I have quite a few PC’s and 1 of them has Windows Vista Ultimate. I hadn’t used it in several years, but I fired it up and was surprised at how visually appealing Vista is. I’ll use your videos to do some updates 👍

Awesome! Vista is pretty. It's odd to think Microsoft made both Vista and Windows 10. I suppose humans can move both backwards and forwards though

the link doesnt work but i still really do appreciate the help. i can look around for the right files. for anyone who might not know where to look for updates try the microsoft update catalog it looks like an old xp site but it has a repository of all updates for legacy windows versions.

Hello, at step "check for updates", how many time do you wait?

This works 50/50. If you have error message, you broke WU on this system and you have no way to check for updates now.

Yes, the edition doesn't matter. The CPU type does though. If I recall correctly, the steps outlined in the video do not work for the 32-bit version of Vista.

No, x86 systems have a different install order and does not use the root certificate update

kind of misleading, you mean you can fix windows update and be patched up to 2017 there arent new updates for vista. I did discover on an old windows 7 laptop before wiping it that Windows Defender was still getting updates but the 7 version of defender only claims to sweep for spyware and potentially unwanted software.

Thank you for bring up this very important point. What about the statement mislead you? Saying windows update *still* works means the feature still works. This was never intended to indicate or imply that new updates are available for Windows Vista.

You're not correct. There is new updates, and there will be until 2026.
