do we have approval for CAR-T therapy for NSCLC Lung Cancer ?
@NCIgov
@NCIgov 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Satish, although research is underway there is not an FDA-approved CAR T-cell therapy for NSCLC at this time. To learn more about CAR-T cell therapy, please see www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/research/car-t-cells. Detailed treatment information for NSCLC can be accessed at www.cancer.gov/types/lung/patient/non-small-cell-lung-treatment-pdq and advances in lung cancer research can be viewed at www.cancer.gov/types/lung/research. Take care.

For first time CAR-T cell patients is the transplant system first introduced in micro-increments to study cell integration sites, survival rates, and switch receptor effectiveness on attacking and multiplying before introducing higher amounts of CAR-T to reduce the chance of transplant failure? Also can CAR-T cell therapy be used as treatment for other cellular and viral diseases or auto-immune diseases?

You may wish to explore PubMed®, a free search tool of the National Library of Medicine, to search for journal articles to learn about how CAR T-cell therapy is being studied as a treatment for other diseases. This resource can be found here: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/. Take care.

Hi Moorthi, You can read more about gastric cancer research at www.cancer.gov/types/stomach/research. Although there are no CAR T Cell therapies approved for gastric cancer at this time, there are several research studies looking at this therapy in solid tumors. Take care.

It's a real medical short-coming that there is no realistic CAR T cell therapy information/discussion aimed at the cancer patient. I have just completed chemo/radiation for DLBCL and that treatment (I'm 75) was a true nightmare. My oncologist said, that if there is a relapse, CAR T might be the only avenue for me and the toxicity would be even worse. I have concluded that palliative/hospice will be my future, based on his statements. Unfortunately, there are no "What you can expect" videos other than a list of side-effects. Shame on you.

Hi Rich, we are sorry to learn of your diagnosis with DLBCL and all that you are going through as a result. This video is a presentation of the Cancer Moonshot Seminar Series and provides updates in chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies, but is not patient centered. There are some materials on CAR T-cell therapy you may find helpful from NCI at www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/types/immunotherapy/t-cell-transfer-therapy and from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at www.lls.org/treatment/types-treatment/immunotherapy/chimeric-antigen-receptor-car-t-cell-therapy. We encourage you to talk with your treatment team about what to expect and their experience with any treatments they are recommending since they are most familiar with your situation. We also invite you to contact the NCI’s Cancer Information Service for further information www.cancer.gov/contact. Take care.

Is it useful for metastatic breast cancer (which spread to liver)?
@NCIgov
@NCIgov 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Adda, Research on CART T Cell therapy is ongoing to determine whether its effective in treating metastatic breast cancer. For more information about CAR T-cell therapy see www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/treatment/research/car-t-cells. Standard (widely used and accepted by medical experts) treatments for metastatic breast cancer are listed at www.cancer.gov/types/breast/patient/breast-treatment-pdq#_707. We hope this information is helpful.
