UPDATES ON MERCEDES: my bernese mountain dog is having surgery

There has been A LOT going on behind the scenes with Mercedes. I am feeling ready to share them with you guys so here are the 2 big updates about her. Thank you guys for understanding and supporting us!

The way you were able to talk about these difficult things not a lot of people can do, you hold your head up and show others the hardships in having a dog, two in fact. As someone with genetically anxious dogs, thank you for not breeding Mercedes. I have heard those types of surgeries can take a while to heal because it is hard to get the animal to take it easy. Hopefully both surgeries go smoothly and she recovers quickly.

I have a SDIT who just hit 8 weeks post op of a complete TPLO surgery on her knee. I will say do the surgery, recovery sucks it’s so long and extremely strict and it’s more time consuming than some of the daily training I do with my her, but it is so worth it. We just got orthopedically cleared 8 weeks post op to return to normal activity over the next month, it sucks but it’s also so so worth it! The only other thing I recommend is finding a certified rehab vet who can do post op rehab, it has made the most difference on top of at home strength training/rehab. It is stressful but know it’s the best for her♥️

I'm glad you're dog is healing and doing so well! I bet recovery is not the easiest thing to go through.
