Today i'm discussing in depth WWE 2k Universe Mode. The fixes, updates and changes from WWE 2K22 that we want to see in WWE 2k23. From big to small, we go through the mode on things that absolutely need to be corrected and updated for Universe mode going forward.

1. Add a draft 2. Allow user to pick cutscenes 3. Allow users to pick when the cutscenes will happen. 4. Allow for more than just 1v1 2v2 rivalries. 5. Have branching storylines. 6. Bring back promos 7. Allow user to choose where the promos take place. Via In ring or backstage area. 8. Form stables that lead into storylines. 9. Have the commentary feel more dynamic. Example: have them mention big things that have happened throughout the night. Have them continue to plug huge main events between matches. 10. Add injury storylines. 11. If you bring back a legend have that trigger a storyline. Make it a big deal when a legend returns to the ring. You can set it up as an opening promo for the show. Or have them run in a match. These are things they could've been adding throughout all of this time. It's a shame they've been so lazy with this mode.

WWE 12' universe was great unlocking stars through feuds and you could literally choose what storyline you wanted it to be like forming a tag team or disbanding one, you could choose a path to be a "fighting champion" or "show everyone what I'm made of" but now it's just dead they've stripped Universe of good stuff and instead of expanding they subtracted and didn't add ish.

Factions nowadays is a MAJOR thing. (Bloodline, Brawling Brutes, Hit Row, Legado del Phantasma, Damage Ctrl, Imperium, Judgement Day, The OC, The Schism, The Wyatt 6, Etc) There weren't that many factions back then. One maybe two, or just one big faction that was actually a Major threat. There should be an option for a faction rivalry.

Cutscenes and everything is cool. Not too sure about the voiceovers though because that’d be a LOT of additional recording. A suggestion to get around this is by using NBA 2K’s conversation feature. It’s all text, but the GM talks with the staff and team. I’d like to see social media replace news too

I want them to bring back Custom Story in the Universe Mode Rivalries. I want to be able to set which cutscenes, which match types, which shows, and all of that again. Also the WWE 2K15 Rivalry Storyline selection needs to comeback. I want to able to assign a GM to my show, I want to be able to set up a tournament, I want the MITB fixed, and I need the return of promos. The draft also should be incorporated, but you should be able to set up two different types of drafts. Give me the “win a match, get a draft pick” style, and the MyGM style both available. Also just please god fix tag finishers for next year.

The Biggest Thing they Need to Change on The WWE2k Franchise is The Loading. Idk If it's just Me But it Literally Takes about a month Just to Download 100 Custom Superstars that's not even including universe Mode. If I Go In to Custom Superstar and Save It It takes Like 2 to 3 Minutes just to go back to the Main screen

Here we need to make WWE 2K23 great again Put in a draft when you start Universe mode. Have Adam Pierce and Triple H do the draft for RAW and Smackdown. They can also pick NXT Wrestlers as well including the UK and custom wrestlers. They can use cut scenes that we saw on older WWE games and update them. Second: Better Promo. I do like them but some didn't make sense, some wrestlers don't talk like that and when Michael Cole and the others talk it shouldn't be dumb just like the promo flow. Also when they brawl when it time to break it up it should be ref and security to break them up. Third: Storylines. When doing rivalries it should be a story on it. The meter that show should tell the story if it is low, the rivalry should be normal and just trying to up each other until a chose is made. Also face and heel play important role. If both are baby faces it just a friendly matches until a choice is made to become a heel then meter go high and a heel turn is made. This can be say on the heel side. Also championship storyline need to be in it as well. Finally update news part because sometimes it be wrong and sometimes it won't pick up a rival match at all. Have like a special cutscenes at the end of the week telling us what happening in the world of WWE. It can be turn off as a option but this will help make the news option better. Bonus just make sure it work right so we can use custom Money in the Bank and Double Championship matches.

I had an idea for the news section might make it a little better, if instead of just an image of the superstars they could have a thumbnail and the option to press a button and load the cutscene that the text below is describing. It would probably be a difficult thing to optimize but I think it could work.

I use Universe Mode mostly for my channel... so i definitely want it to be updated/upgraded... 1. Update the video editor to save the videos to use in Universe Mode and not just for Titantron videos 2. Cash in needs a update its very glitchy 3. More title creation options 4. One main showcase and the one or two extra small dlc showcase 5. More smaller arena options like the Nxt arena

I want the ability to have one briefcase for multiple shows (how the MITB can be cashed in on WWE Title or Universal IRL). The ability to have a PPV on ANY day because some are during the week like Saudi shows. With that we can also use it on days where there’s an active show just called an event.

Also: - Bring back Draft Events - More slots for Stables -> Option for authority stable: (If you put either Triple H, Vince, Stephanie, or Shane (if he‘s in the game) in a stable, you should get the option to turn the authority stable on. Said authority person have cutscenes regarding last second match changes (E.G: Normal -> Last Man Standing, etc.). They can have special rivalries, which could lead to adding new members, or kicking people out of it. Even dissolving the stable. Only one authority group per Show can exist. -> GM Option: If there is no Authority Stable, you have the Option to put a GM in it. Plus have Storylines included with them (kinda like Shane, Kurt Angle, Baron Corbin, etc.) -> If one member of a stable is in a rivalry, other members have a chance to appear in the matches (Adjustable in Universe Mode options) - Custom Pyro openings… do I have to say more? - Customizable Entrances, like the past games - Don‘t lock characters to specific modes (I‘m looking at you, MyFaction) - New and More Matchtypes (Ambulance Match returns to NXT). You can make super specific matches PPV only, makes it more realistic. Plus, adding the ones from Showcase Modes (E.G: 3 Stages of Hell) - Constant Updated Attires and Entrances: Ok, this is a lot of work for 2K, I get it. But it doesn‘t matter how good the CC‘s are. I just hate, when People change their Gimmick, or Persona, but the Entrance Music doesn‘t fit anymore (like Dominic Mysterio, for example). Make it an option to revert to the old Gimmick or persona. - No more Championship Clipping on CAS‘ or custom attires: You just hate to look at it. - Injury Return Storyline - Legend Return Storyline - Champion Promo, when he/she‘s in his/her hometown/city, can also be part of rivalries (E.G: Eddie Guerrero‘s US Title Entrance in El Paso) - Option for House Shows, like the ones we have here in Europe. - Special Money in the Bank Build up storyline: Like have them have 6 Man Special Promos, Matches, Brawls, etc. Not like the current games, that randomly puts 6 People in a match. -> SAME FOR SURVIVOR SERIES - Royal Rumble Match Storylines (like the ones we had in the 2000‘s or, the 2013-14 ones) - Improved Undertaker Wrestlemania Storyline: (If Old School Taker gets used: Option for Paul Bearer to appear) New Cutscenes, maybe lead ups to certain match types (Casket Match, maybe?) I know it‘s a lot and everything from my list won‘t happen, but a man can dream, eh? :P In the End, we just want to have the perfect WWE Game

Draft, the ability to completely block out unused wrestlers, and the ability to move shows around without having to remake them. It would be great if we could just completely wipe stats away. I only want the events and stats of my universe reflected in my universe. As it is I have to download custom championships for this.

Matt, Thank you for bringing up promos...because in a damn wrestling videogame the fact that for several years they were mediocre and then taken out entirely like they're not apart of any major wrestling promotion was infuriating instead of being revamped. Def need promos back! I have two things that I don’t see a lot of conversation about. Remember royal rumble on sega or snes. After the rumble there was a recap? Hbk tossed out this guy that guy etc I would love to have that. I would also love to book matches a year in advance. Ie we know Roman and rock will go ham at WM let’s book the match and then book backwards. Or at least when a card is complete, be able to go back and select a pre played card the prior week and see who won etc. One more little nugget would be to have number 1 contenders match and the ai actually keeps it like a Royal rumble rivalry. I finally gave a try to universe mode after avoiding it from hearing how broken it was. I had 2 crashes and a softlock in less than 2 hours even tho I had the bare minimum in my universe mode. No custom arenas, no custom logos, no downloaded content, less than 20 roster, only one title on the show...

What's the point even without being able to choose what happens? You do all the set-up (how many shows, which shows, which superstars, which titles, etc), but as soon as you start the control gets taken away from you. It's YOUR universe, how come I can't choose what cutscenes happen with who when etc? Usually either nothing happens, or if something does happen, it makes little to no sense.

They need to lean on their history. WWE is the greatest content library. The rivalry system should incorporate classic WWE stories like the old Smackdown season modes did. Select superstars to play out the Corporation storyline for three months or the Rockers tag team break-up for a month. HCTP did the freaking Beer Bash. Why can't that be a cut scene in Universe Mode?

I think something that made universe mode special especially in wwe 12 was that there was always an aire of unpredictability to your universe mode. The “anything can happen” feeling of the universe mode made it very special and interesting to play on your main shows leading up to paperviews. Not to mention the UI was so smart and able to continue storylines and remember who won and who lost on any given night. There were #1 contenders matching the game was pushing any superstar it wanted and you were there for the ride. Not that I mind the sandbox but I think that sort of universe mode would make the mode better.

Hi!! 1. Possibility of rivals to focus on each other, in events like Royal Rumble, or Elimination Chamber. 2. Blows with tables and chairs, with opponent on the ground. 3. You can climb Annotable tables freely. 4. Special entry of the two-title champion fighter. 5. Use steel steps as a weapon. 6. More blood on the floor. 7. You can stack tables. 8. You can wedge ladders. 9. There's different chair actions. 10. OMG! barricade breaker. Bye bye.

Simplest way to fix this mode is to combine GM and Universe mode with elements of the story creator from the older games. More depth and detail built on the frame work they have now would be ideal. Multi person/team rivalries, team promos, triple threat/fatal Four promos, champions have their belt(s) when they cut promos, manager promos, proper backstage promos would be nice touches. As well it would be cool to have a feature similar to UFC 4 where social media plays a part in creating hype, rivalries and story development. Universe is bare bones now, GM mode was a complete let down so they need to improve everything moving forward.

i actually loved cutting promos and attacking superstars before or during a match like how we see on the shows. i wish they would bring all that back for the mode cause now its just a bunch of exhibition matches with no point to a feud or storyline. it was so cool seeing my created wrestlers/superstars with microphones going against other real life superstars on the mic or other creations i made or downloaded. it was in 2k20. man i miss that. i spend more time on gm mode then universe mode now with 2k22 cause there's at least more to do, and if i squint my eyes real hard i can see a story unfolding.

I think they also need a menu where players can set up encounters or interactions in between match cards whether it's a attack or argument or just walking through the hall backstage and bumping into a wrestler that triggers a potential feud. Players can head into a menu full of different (cut scene base interactions) that can trigger a potential feud.

1v1 2v2 3v3 4v4 5v5 rivalries in my opinion would be great in the game for factions because I would love to see alot of fighting going on in a wwe game to be honest on promos i wish the wwe character could talk i hate reading dialogue to be honest it gets boring but if they could talk no matter if it them talking or just someone voice talking for them will be cool like a voice actor or something i would love that as well i would love to see more cut scenes as well in rivalries no matter what rivalry it is like if you create six shows for six of second days that you can make one wwe superstar rival six different people for the pay-per-views i think that will be cool for a custom superstar that people put their own superstars in the game that would be a cool universe mode in my opinion promo rivalries should have more as well like the opinion to do a promo backstage like Stone Cold Steve Austin did like the shield did or even on the ramp or even in the ring I think that would be cool as well and have the option to fight or not or even shake their hand or not just the little things that make it cool if someone doing a promo by themselves where you have one Superstar coming out of the ring and interrupting them like Bray Wyatt has done but just coming back from an injury cuz you know they get injured and they want to make a statement to the crowd for a big pop in a crowd reaction or when there injured there return gets a big pop just like Bray Wyatt when he returned at extreme rules just using some examples money in the bank briefcase i think should set up a promo Feud and a match Feud with championships and should get the pick whatever Championship they want to cash it in on as well I wish some fans could see how 2k dose there games and could sit there as they make the game for feed back that would be cool because the wwe community is awesome at coming up with ideas

I agree with everything you saying I would like to see and then Add a storyline list where you can go in universe mode going to options where they have right there where either you're doing a traditional universe mode or Superstar mode you pick out a story that you want to play out on universe mode and you play it with a lot of cutscenes with the actual backstage segments and interviews just like they do for my ride but it's only targeting specifically a triple threat rivalry or a one-on-one rivalry or a tag team just like they do on Raw and SmackDown and sit down interviews and have the ability to allow us to pick how long we want the Rivalry to go either 6 months to a year or either 8 months to a year or a whole 2 years or we have the options to have it on and off for the whole entire year and pick a end date where what day we want to end it pay-per-view are just a raw or SmackDown and also I would like for them to do a start date when will you like this arrival to start and what type of pace would you want it to start at whether a slow build come in medium or mild or come in hot and heavy

My biggest bug on universe mode is the mitb , everytime I do a proper cash in I can't do a rivalry with that superstar after , so like if the mitb cashes in and wins that person , I can't put in rivalries, like I can use them but I can't set up anything with them which makes it very frustrating

Universe mode can have the options of superstar/season mode, gm mode, or sandbox and overhaul ALL of Universe Mode. Just put mygm into universe mode. Then it’ll feel like a mode is missing. Thats where you add in create-a-story!!!

The 1 thing that I want the most in WWE 2K23 is the PPV gameplay option that was in No Mercy and Wrestlemania 2000 on N64. This was the only thing my friends and I would play back in the day. We would setup an entire PPV and play every match. If I remember it would be like 8 matches. You didn't have to go into your Universe to do this in those games. I never understood why this was never a gameplay option on any of the 2K games.

They should put Universe mode and GM mode together to create the ultimate universe mode. Just like the old games.

Also bring back the backstage from raw ha smackdown were you can go into different areas from front of arena, hallway, lockeroom, gm office, catering, parking lot, boiler room, wwe hq (separate) boneyard match location (separate)

FOR ME PERSONALY ALL MODES ARE GREAT THE ONLY CHANGE I WOULD LOVE IS ON MY RISE MODE, I REMEMBER THAT THE PLAYER USE TO WALK AROUND DE BACK AND TALK TO THE OTHER WRESTLERS CONTROLING YOURE PLAYER! ALSO THE PROMOS IN THE RING WHERE YOU USE TO PICK WHAT U WANTED TO SAY ON A PROMO IN THE RING

for the draft they should let you pick up the people you want in your draft like created characters

You should also be able to rearrange your entire show card. Slide matches to the left and right. Why is my US title main eventing SummerSlam when I have a blood feud for the world title third on the card?

which we could have old attires is superstars like 09 orton or cena. Wish there was a way to have a tuff universe from the 2000s-2015 fighters with authentic entrances, moves, ability to be talked abt by commentators, throwback commentators and many more. I have a ton of ideas about this mode. I wish the universe mode had way better storylines and more realism. It’s a good start but has so much potential. Ik about community creations but they aren’t like the authentic ones. if there is a problem with aew and they can’t make it, let us have more ability with creations like songs etc.

I would like for the guys in the rivalries to not fight each other every week for 3 months. You can’t set up king of the ring anymore. Also I love your idea about multiple rivalries at once and there should be faction rivalries.

I want the ability to have a single show option. One thing I do in universe is I set up “scouting”. I make either real or made up shows, whether it be AEW, PWG, AAA, Deep South Wrestling, or a show I made up and create one card on that show. I then watch every match on that card as a scout. I then “offer an NXT contract” to whatever super stars impress me during my time at their show and I add them to NXT as a trail. I want a way to make it where I can make a show happen one time for that.

Think they need a daily view menu jus like nba 2k.. where u can go back to previous dates and see the cards and who won and lost on that show

I swear Universe Mode used to have an option where you can easily copy a PPV into the following month. It made adding PPVs so much easier.

it would be nice to add old wwe arenas and wcw arenas as well
