I have a friend that is a tattoo artist, one of the times I was there getting tattooed, a 19 year old came in with his 18 year old gf. They wanted matching yin yang symbols on their cheekbones right under the left eye. My friend argued, dude insisted. Then find out it would be the FIRST tattoo for both of them. She refused. Dude tried to say they would just tattoo each other "prison style" if she refused. Another weird part, the gf was silent the entire time. They left un-inked.

if you are not 100% yet there is always the option of washable tattoo's that way you can check if you like it.

my then boyfriend when i was in grade 11 got the boston bruins logo like maybe 3 inches and over his heart cause his dad had the same one or something, he had mentioned the idea a couple of times and i kinda thought it was dumb and would kinda hint at that every time he mentioned it without directly saying it was dumb since i didn’t actually think he would go through with it but lo and behold one afternoon hes picking me up from school and i get into his car and he tells me he made an appointment to get the tattoo and already paid and everything, leading up to the day of the appointment he would keep apologizing for booking the appointment without telling me and running it past me but i kept saying i didn’t care, then came the fateful day that he got the tattoo and sent me a picture of it while i was sitting in the computer lab with my class working on something and i immediately put my head down and started crying

I had friends who got drunk and decided to get tattoos of their SO's names. One was single and didn't want to be left out so now has "Jaime" in a heart tattoo on his back. When he had it done he was really drunk and didn't even know a girl called Jaime. He just chose that name because he thought it sounded pretty.

Getting a tattoo of someones name isn't a big deal, if they are related by blood. Doesn't mean they won't stab you in the back, but your more likely to forgive them eventually. You can't choose your family.

My mother got a tattoo of a frog on her bicep and on the lily pad it had my name on it, and very faintly and tiny, her boyfriend's. So it's easy to cover up if she needs to.
