On one hand, I understand the changes but this is basically a completely different song now. I love the added lines with Brooke but the ending feels like a different song and the transition into Loser Geek Whatever doesn't feel as smooth as it should. Maybe it's because I've grown so accustomed to the Two River version that this version isn't as good to me I don't hate it or anything but wow is it different.

I think where they're going with this version is showing that Jeremy isn't the only one who wants an upgrade in his life. everyone does (you know cause, "I'm tired of being the person that everyone thinks that I am"?) like, Jenna wants to be heard, Brooke wants to be seen, Jake wants a better relationship (since his story is mostly revolving around relationships like his parents, Chloe and Christine), Chloe, I assume from her line in the new do you wanna hang, indicates she hates being seen as 'the mean one'. hope this makes sense :3

gonna be honest, i love this version, possibly more than the older version. i actually feel that all of this held together really smoothly. this is gorgeous musically, in my opinion. and it’s okay if you disagree! i’m just here to speak on behalf of those of us that really enjoy this new version of the song. in a way, i feel that it’s more fit for a broadway production and feel that the end of the song is gorgeous.

I can’t believe how many people don’t like this song, and the new cast. The people who don’t like this don’t like it because it’s not the original, and because it changed. People can’t accept change at times, and so they call this song “Lame” and “it sucks”. First off, people critique the SQUIP’s voice, Jason did a fantastic job with his SQUIP version because he actually made an effort to act like Keanu. Keanu is a surfer, so stop hating on the “surfer accent.” People also critique Jeremy. You all do realize the characters don’t belong to the original cast? The actors make those characters, not the one that came before them. While I agree Will Roland doesn’t fit Jeremy’s personality, it shows how good of an actor he is. HE isn’t supposed to have Jeremy’s personality, he is supposed to act his version of it. Will Ronald isn’t acting as Will C., he is acting as Jeremy. Same goes for the SQUIP. If they actually acted like the characters, the whole cast would be different, and would all be assholes except the SQUIP, see how you like it then.

Other than the characters having deeper lines and that I get to listen to Brooke before the squip takes over the song, I don't see the appeal. It's not bad, and I truly like it, just not as much as the other version.

I like the the original squip better because he sounded more manipulating, the voice better matched the character. With this voice don't get me wrong he's good but not a good fit for this type of character. As for the lyric change, I like the other better, the beginning is the part that really suffers in this one. The smooth transition and the line "take me inside you " show the squip's manipulation of Jeremy better. Jeremy himself is okay both versions are great and have their own charm. And I'm not saying any of this to hate on the actors or writers , I'm just pointing out there were better decisions that could have been made to make it better. In the end though I don't hate it but if they ever rewrite or recast again, maybe they could take criticisms and opinions like these into account. To add to this I can see why some don't like it though, they changed the two main lead actors and some lyrics and that can startle long time fans so backlash and hate is to be expected but not deserved. As I said I don't hate them and they did good in their own right but for some the original is a better fit for the character itself.
