Thanks for the guidance! I learn so much from awesome people who share their knowledge. Thank you! The music was seriously rad too!

@z00h Yeah, they made a simple design complex-- used to be one door and one screw. I've upgraded about 30 or 40 of these since the video and sure-- you get better at it but if you've never done it before it takes a bit of skill to get the backplate off without damaging the corners.

@Borisyoch You're right, that is the correct way to do it. I didn't have one on hand. Thanks for watching !

Great video. I wonder why they made this model so impossible to upgrade easily, while other latitudes in the past were easy as two screws lol.

@moccina why is it difficult? because there's more screws is it? if you think about it for a second, they actually made it easier to maintain. previous ones were a bitch to clean inside.

Thanks for the video. It's a bit easier to remove and replace the bottom half of the case if you remove the hard disk (secured by the four *short* screws) and optical drive (push in lever to release it) before pulling it off.

@dbiberdorf Ah good call, that would make sense. I did fumble around a bit before getting the back plate back on but edited that out of the video of course ;). Thx for watching !

I know I'm asking on a very old video, but any recommendations on which RAM to buy? I want to upgrade from 8gb to 16gb.
@DavidEvans_dle12 жыл бұрын
Just wondering if 8 gigs the maximum memory configuration for this laptop, since it only has two memory module slots. 4gigs x 2.

Right on-- thanks for the info!

Im not sure. Its possible its 16 max, 2x8 but you would have to google it.

I just did this with a Latitude E6320. The screw layout on the bottom was slightly different, and the slots for the RAM were more in the middle of the computer, but this video was still a great help in showing me what to do. To @scottwilkins: crucial.com is much cheaper than RAM from Dell. This was the second Dell I upgrade with crucial.com RAM.

@Borisyoch Have actually never used one of those. I've always built my computers on a carpeted floor without using them. As long as you touch something metal to discharge before touching the electronics, you're good.

Thanks for the helpful video...Please tell me that is not a Riverbed screwdriver so I know I haven't become a complete IT nerd.....If I recognized that, there's no hope for me.

@adamfrayne182 you nailed it right on the head--- see my channel for the unboxing / review of the E6520. They absolutely made it 10x more difficult to change memory than prior models. Thanks for watching !
