In this video I will walk through the upgrade I did to a 2018 Jamis Dakar A1. Brakes being installed are the Magura MT 5, four piston brakes, front and rear. In my opinion these are a great upgrade without breaking the bank. #Magura

The Magura system comes with a clever little plug that allows you to feed the hose through the frame without introducing air into the system and hence not needing to bleed the system in 9/10 cases. It's in the baggy with the spare olives. You install the brake lever with the hose pointing upwards and cut the brake hose like 4" or 10cm from the barb. Push the plug into the long end of the hose, thread that through the frame and then you proceed to cut it to length. Remove the remaining piece of hose from the lever and let the brake fluid from the hose fill the port. Then install the nut, olive and the plastic protector, push in the barb and screw it all into the lever. Most of the time that eliminates the need to bleed your brakes.

Thanks for letting me know. I saw that little barb in the packet but I wasn't sure what it was for. The kit really does come with everything you need.

Do you need to refuel the oil when u took the hose off and back on?

I did a brake bleed on the brakes once I got everything installed. I am sure that I introduced a little air into the system when I cut the lines. Bleeding them replaces any oil I lost and gets takes any sponginess out.
