Update: It has been 1 year since I installed the battery upgrade.The device can still play Fire Emblem Awakening for 11 hours on a single charge. (Wifi off and on level 3 brightness)

@@paulaureada7181 I ran a test earlier with WiFi on and on max brightness. It used about 11% per hour. Which means that it can get a surprising 8 to 9 hours on a single charge. I was playing Firemblem Awakening by the way.

Hey! its me again, I just did run a test too. Got a total time of 14hrs 2mins and 26sec. This is full brightness, 3d off, power saving off, and wifi off. Open mtg snake eater 3d up in running overnight till daytime. I think turning off the wifi is a drastic change that can make the 3ds battery longer.

Is there a case for the 3ds thats compatible with that battery? I dont like having it unprotected. I have a nerf case thats way bulkier than that so i guess it wont be a problem adjusting myself to the 3ds with the battery, but still id rather have a case on it, thanks nice vid, i thoght the comments on amazon about the battery were fake and too good to be true

Nah, this particular battery works great. One of my students uses the same battery and he has equally had great results. I have not come across a case no. However the snap on protective cover can still fit the top. As for the bottom, stick on foam sheets cut to size work great. Thanks for the comment.

There is a model for the New 3DS XL yes. The Mugen brand stocks one for it.

@@muddirt8074 Thank you. The actual 3ds was very damaged. I acquired it 2nd hand. So the custom paint is to cover up the damage.

So far so good. Compared to before, I don't have to think about the battery. It's really become a grab and go device. It way out lasts my play time. It's chunky, but it adds a charm to the device

@@LennWeltmeister Mugen makes a battery for that model. There are also clip on options. Easiest method would be to order a USB cable with the 3DS XL charging port. Then purchase a slim powerbank. Put the 3ds XL, USB and powerbank in a suitable carrying case or pouch.

I've been using it on Max Brightness and with WiFi on and I've managed about 9 hours of gameplay so far. I haven't run an official test just yet, but will pin the numbers to this post once I have.

Your best bet is to get a brand new official Nintendo Battery. That will give you a more stable battery life as most 3DS console batteries are old at this point. I dont know of any higher capacity batteries that arent larger. There are cases that have extra battery packs, but they will increase the size, but you will have a better grip on the device@@ButterfingerBB

It really comes down to personal preference. I prefer the heftyness and also how it looks. I chucked it in my sling bag this weekend and it was really useful while I was in the waiting room. I didnt have to keep an eye on the battery or check it before I left the house. If you only use your 3DS for short bursts of gameplay or if you are always near a charger then it isnt really necessary. One other option is to buy a 3DS USB cable and use it with a slim powerbank.

For me, it doesn't feel that much heavier when carrying it around in my pocket. It still feels relatively comfortable and fixes the problem the original 3DS had when it debuted, even if it's a little overkill. The only thing that concerns me is that a case protector will not fit onto the 3DS, leaving it in a vulnerable position. Still, I would definitely recommend it for anyone stuck with an original 2011 model and don't have the money to upgrade to either an XL or "new" model.

Not this particular upgrade. You have to buy one specifically for the New 3DS. I think Mugen makes the battery for that model.

@@kenshinsenI had the same problem because I'm in South Africa. You know what you can do: order a short 3DS USB charging cable. Then buy a slim charging bank. Often both items can fit in the small 3ds zip cases. Neat and convenient on the go option.
