Years ago I was struggling to find my style and I remember watching Hannah (cocobeautea) in her early youtube days and thinking to myself "this is genius." Then it was lots of trial and error to find the right shades of neutrals and proper fit for myself. I love watching videos like this and seeing how everyone's thought process works.

Absolutely brilliant common sense tips for a long lasting classic wardrobe. I have always loved classic pieces over fast fashion and had a Mum who was so elegant and chic, it has always been natural for me to dress in this way. Items may cost much more, but the fact they will last for years, makes perfect sense to me. Like you said, confidence comes being comfortable in what we wear and knowing we look good. I'm 5ft 1, so some things can be a challenge, but I love tweaking things and vintage pieces can often be altered by a good tailor. Many thanks, you look great!

Such nice looks!! Love the jumper and leather trousers look but also the turtleneck under a shirt! How late into the season do you still wear turtlenecks?
@AdelineLoke Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! Honestly, it depends on the climate where you live! I am still wearing turtlenecks into early spring because it's still cold here in the UK. But I try to wear them in lighter colours such as light grey or cream instead of black. xx

amazing video! However, I am not sure that natural fabrics last longer, the wool sweaters pill almost immediately which is such a shame. Cashemere sweaters are also very prone to pilling. What I think is less prone to pilling is alpaca wool and mohair, but whenever there is alpaca wool it is always mixed with regular wool:/ I know there re depillers for sweaters but they dont work for a big thick sweaters only for the tightly knitted ones. Maybe you have any advice or insight on this?:) thank yoU!
@AdelineLoke Жыл бұрын
Pilling is normal for natural fibres. I think that the amount of pilling comes down to the grade of cashmere or wool. For example, I have had some cheap cashmere pieces in the past from H&M which did not hold up well. And I have more expensive cashmere pieces from Lisa Yang that have lasted beautifully. Sometimes I find that using a cashmere comb instead of the machine de-piller can work better. And it takes off less fibres :) Hope that helps! xx
@ainakunigelyte Жыл бұрын
@@AdelineLoke thank you! I am not sure how to deal with huge peaces of pilling since the classical de-piller doesn't take them. Have you also noticed that alpaca and mohair are less prone to pilling?:) Alsio, not sure how to wash them... It would be great to see a video on the care of Knittwear ;) greetings! ;)

For me, wearing natural-fiber fabrics is very important because my skin reacts to synthetics and I overheat in them immediately, they don’t breathe at all (this overheating often begins in one’s late 40s-50s, we just can’t cool down as efficiently). I also like to buy natural-fiber items that are not blended with synthetics, because then they can be recycled at the end of their life, unlike blends (even 1% elastane, nylon, etc., will disqualify it for recycling). You could try a cashmere comb or disposable, cheap razor first on big pills if the depiller doesn’t work well. I often try several different things before I find which works best on each sweater. Also, as Adeline says in her response, try to buy the best quality “woolies” you can afford. Cashmere and wool vary a lot in quality and this affects the itchiness as well as pilling. (Cashmere, I know, is graded on a scale of quality, you could Google this, then ask the manufacturer what grade they used, if they don’t offer this information, many do). Merino wool or lambswool are usually nicer than just any saying, undifferentiated, “wool”. I hope you have success with your sweaters🙂

You could consider some Neon cos you have a cool undertone to your skin, hair and eye. A Silk Neon Shirt would bring chic and fun to the basics as well as a cool chunky Leather Boot to give height and style. A Tailored Blazer that's nipped in at the waist with a Balmain shoulder gives presence and shape to the body. Add a platform Metallic Stella McCartney Brogue or similar to give height to a quiet outfit. Consider Colour and with your cool skin undertone there's so many colours that would suit you. The cut and shape of Jean or trouser for a Petite girl really matters, one that gives length to the legs and shape to the booty. Well done you've got the basics down pat 😊👍🏼🌻

We all understand that you’re not trying to dictate what other people should wear, don’t worry. Maybe call your “rules” tips or suggestions instead? (Ironically, viewers love headlines that have “rules” in the title, it seems to appeal to our human attraction to quick and easy formulas, lists, etc.). We watch fashion YTers for the love of fashion, for fun and for inspiration. Just ignore anyone who comments with “who are you to tell me what to wear?” and similar remarks. There will always be a few weirdos who watch only to say critical things like that, they don’t have to watch if they don’t want to! I love your videos for your fashion style, tips and suggestions, but also because you speak so beautifully and clearly and the output volume is excellent. [I have some hearing loss from my teens (from a rock concert, like many of my contemporaries), and I so appreciate not having to comment, over and over again: “please increase the output volume in future videos”].

Unfortunately, we females are conditioned from a very young age to be hyper-critical of our appearance. We seem to all be expected to achieve perfection, which isn’t possible for anyone. I say, love what Nature gave you, especially when you’re young! One thing we take for granted in youth is that defined waist, it generally vanishes by age 50. Enjoy and show off your youthful figures! I don’t mean skin, I mean shape, in a classy way, always.
