Upgraded Hobby Engine Southampton Tug HE 0701 with twin speed controllers

I got the Hobby Engine Southampton Tug out today and popped over to the lake. The sun was out and the ducks were not taking a while lot of notice of me. I upgraded this boat a while ago with hobby grade RC. The main feature being that I fitted twin speeds controllers or ESCs that allow me to steer and turn the tug on the spot by having one propeller going forward and the other one in reverse using a mix I programmed into the transmitter much like how you would for a tank or tracked vehicle and the rudder still works as well for when you are going along. I did a couple of videos on how I did the upgrade and I’ll put video links in at the end and in the description box, although I would warn you that sound is very muffled on part one of the videos as I left the waterproof case on the camera and didn’t realise until I uploaded the video. Again many thanks to Lee for the camera and camcorder operation boats are very hard to do by yourself.

Hi, thank you very much. I will ask you, please, something about not the upper grade (non for me, not yet) but I will do it for the "basic" version: is it a good purchase, in your opinion? Is it easy to clean? And what about the waterproof, inside the boat? Thnak you very very much

I left the upper RC installed - as it saved me wiring and buying light controllers and sound etc - so I used 2 RC transmitters with the model at the same time! I think this boat is a great purchase. Yes - very water proof - good seals - I think I may have put some lead in to lower it in the water. 😀👍

what is the range distance as far as not losing control of your boat? 50ft? 200ft? Thanks!

It really depends on the radio used and the placement of the aerial. With hobbygrade RC (meant for RC aircraft) the range is probably a lot further than you could even see it! With the radio it comes with I'm not sure - as I took it out before I even used the boat, although being 2.4 ghz I would think that it is quite a long way.
