Do you need to keep the usb stick plugged in to play games, or when you scan the directory, are these being transferred over to the firestick? I would rather keep me usb permanently plugged in as that has more memory for games

It's only legal when you get the rom off your own cartridge/disc yourself. Downloading roms off the internet is copyright infringement either way.
