At 40:06 you were very close to discovering the nickel nodes. They are a bit subtle compared to gold and silver. I made the same mistake myself. Also, If you find silver resource nodes, they can provide a bit of nickel as well, if memory serves. A side note: I am not sure if it intended by the developers, but the power system is shared throughout the map in this game. You can mount power storage and solar panels to the structure that you used the keycard to access and it contributes towards your total power available back at your main base. With this, you can use that mining laser to target certain fields of resources by just dropping a corridor in space and plonking the mining laser on top of it. It doesn't need to be connected to be powered. This was the case when I played last, but it understandably may be adjusted. I found that when using the mining laser near where you built your base, it tends to be mostly copper and iron that is gathered(which is good for early game and expansion), but I found myself wanting to move the laser to access the more desirable resources once I had my fill of iron and copper and had discovered other node types. That area where you suspect the nodes are nickel is a good spot to set up a laser for your immediate upgrade needs.. :) Final word of advice, be prepared to up your power storage and generation when you use the mining laser, it is a bit power thirsty. If you are in a pinch, power-wise, you would have to disable your mining laser to be able to craft and whatnot, so just a heads up if you place it far from your main base.

Go down to the dome, there you can mine nikl and the shrooms for food. Blue crystals are through the green asteroid and the purple thingies are din the second bottom hole of the big asteroid and you need laser to mine them. You need to craft the advanced crafter. make T3 oxygen tank and go behind that big asteroid with 2 holes and containers on top, fly on top of it and when you´ll get closer to the one huge on the right, you´ll see and bring the key card with you. There are also silver meteorites to mine that way. and go with empty inventory.

You can delete the upgrade station now to save power. You should definitely get the laser miner and the vehicle station test out the scooter if you want but the other vehicle replenishes oxygen and has storage

You may have figured it out by now but you can Name your storage boxes if your storage gets out of hand.. just click on the storage where it says MEDIUM STORAGE and you should be able to name it.

The last area you were in that you could breathe, you didn't mine the stalagmites and stalactites. Also, there are things that respawn there, so you could go back for more purple balls and gold.

The most important thing in space ,is oxygen, so of course, you leave upgrading your oxygen tank to last, I swear ,I only watch this in the hope you die in game.

those rocks floating around that you think is nickel... is actually silver with a slim chance you might get nickel too. there's tons of it. 2 spots. actually I didn't know about the one you found! As for the Nickel, you passed several stalactites in the base's cave. don't forget the one on the ceiling too. fyi, when you finally build your space ship.... think of it like Subnautica's sub with it's capabilities. Close call on that lack of oxygen too. lucky you got back in time. cause you would have had to do that all over again! lol

That was great progress with the three upgrades - a vehicle next and you’ll be set! Now get back to that station with the cave in it and zap these stalagmites - they are nickel I think.

There are some mineable nickel deposits in the cave with the purple balls that you were in in the 30 minute part of the video. You were too far away or moving too fast to see the popup tip
