Spring compressors are fine. I still prefer the foot on the coil then shoot it across the workshop floor. Had to come back to this episode cause it must've slipped past me. Great work as alwats boys.

Now you've done half the job, you need to pull the spring off the strut. Put the wheel on, jack the wheel up in the guard and set the bump stop height. Mca have a youtube video on this.

I have questions: 1. Is the gap between the tyre and the strut on stock struts about the same as it is between the back of the tyre and the coilover? 2. I forgot the other question
@FuManchu5ltr Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah. I did a VT brake conversion on my VP. I was advised to use VE callipers instead because they work better with the smaller piston bore. I was a bit underwhelmed with the conversion and have always wished I took the advice and used VE callipers. (Yes used a different master cylinder etc) Maybe a question best answered on the next podcast.

Good question! The tyre does sit closer to the coilover than it did the stock strut assembly, so depending on your wheel offset/tyre size choices you may need to run a small spacer.

Did you think about trying out the BC racing coil overs ?!? $950 and they are happy to do any spring rate and shock valving you desire too ! Going a set for the front of my VG Ute so I can go some big boi wheels for shows and cruising . I know they aren’t Aussie .. but they are a hell of a set up !!

BC, MCA, XYZ, there were many considerations. We fired out some messages to fellas we knew who were running cars hard and if they had any recommendations - to which we had a few point us in the Shockworks direction. A couple emails and a phone call had us very comfortable with our decision, not just in regards to the initial purchase, but their accessibility for aftersales support aswell. This isn't to say that you can't have the same experience with other brands either, but this ticks alot of boxes for us ✅️

Non of those brands suggested above are in the same league as Shockworks

I thought vb - vp front disks were part of the hub and bearing? What holds the bottom of the oem shock in its place? Great episode, you mob.
@TorqHub Жыл бұрын
Thats correct mate, this has a VT brake upgrade, with adapter hubs. Oem shock is held captive within the strut body 'tube' then secured with the top nut

Any new coil springs setup needs to be driven on then they settle and will drop approximately 10-50mm

Yeah that's right, and there's still plenty of weight to be put back in the car yet, hence why we didn't mess with it too much. But like we said, the beauty of coilovers means we'll just wind it up/down as we see fit 😅

@TorqHub cheers, I remember you guys giving it a shout out in a pod or video but couldn't find it again. Also, with the pod cast, have you guys considered a segment to shout out businesses that have done good job or good customer service? I know you guys always speak up when you have a good thing to say about a business or company but maybe viewers can drop a message in the comments stating who and what they have had done. Obviously staying away from any negative territory as there plenty of that trash on Facebook already.. just a thought

Thats essentially what blower whine is for mate. So far most people have just used it to ask us questions, but you can leave a voicemail for anything. Whether it be to tell a cool story, give props, or just share something that could be of value to the community. Much like you said the negative ones would likely need to be screened out, but that's easy done. Most of our viewers base are good sorts anyway 😉👌
