If you choose an entry-level PS Audio product and then later upgrade, can you rely upon the sound of your system still keeping its synergy?

I would also encourage him to aim higher and use the robust used market to obtain the components. These were exceptional deals but an S-300 amp and a used MKII DAC $2,200.00 shipped. Never looked back. I'm not a streamer, I computer source my systems. Also If PS Audio recommends a certain interconnect (which they do) get it. They have done the listening tests for you, taking the guesswork out of it. I also whish he was not so set on Klipsch. Other speaker brands have surpassed Klipsch on the top end. imho

The S300 is a real bargain. Have no desire to try anything else.

Yeah, like Focal speakers run circles over Klipsch.

Nah, it depends on your tastes. Klipsch sound is a thing, with dynamics. Focal imagining and detail. All depends what's important to you. If you want to say some horn speakers run circles around Klipsch, make your argument. But in some ways it's like talking wine, what's the "best" wine. Like saying Argentina's chardonnays run circles around Oregon's Pino Noirs. Not if your preference is for one or another. Focal and Klipsch both make some excellent speakers.

Yep as Paul said most HiFi manufactures have their “house sound” having heard PS Audio, Naim, Exposure, Quad, Linn to name just a few exhibit this philosophy. Some you like and some you don’t. Horses for courses or systems. You will know by listening. Good luck. Cheers.

House sound, loosely translated as tonal preferences

How would totl PS Audio gear fair against dCS, Classé or Luxman gear?

So once a circuit is designed for best performance then built and listened to, do you tweak the design for sonic characteristics over original spec oriented design?
@benwu79807 ай бұрын
That'd make for a great video. While I know a bit about electronic engineering, what they would do for 'house' sound would be way out of my league.

What sound does a "noise harvester" have? And a pair of grossly over priced Chinese speakers, with some other questionable China speakers....why not make them here, Legacy Audio does, and gets DSP, and built in amps for low end, better designs, better stuff...

I'm not sure it's helpful to think about equipment as our "dream setup" unless a) we've heard it, and b) we've heard enough similarly priced kit to be confident that our opinion will stand the test of time.

As far as I know, Klipsh speakers are very sensitive and it doesn’t take much to drive them. That should be enough to answer the question especially since you have other systems and a trial period to listen and return if you’re not happy.

given how efficient the klipschorn's are. you won't need any more power than the PS-Audio integrated unless you like listening at ear bleeding levels. PS-Audo mono-blocks will barely be off idle. In the future you might feel the itch for separates (and given the horn's you're likely an individual of means) so finance wont be an issue. But you're well into the area of 'diminishing returns.' Ensuring your room is well sorted will likely yield better results.

I don't know how good you like the sound, but Klipsch speakers are not the best if you listen to the sound quality. klipsch speakers are NOT HIGH-END Far from it.

@@ford1546personally I find them to be a bit too fatiguing and bright, but the Heritage speakers, especially the Cornwall and above, are absolutely high end speakers

@@darkstang96bright? I find B&W speakers brigt and fatiguing. Maybe the ampnit was hooked on was bright and crappy quality
@darkstang967 ай бұрын
@@tacofortgens3471 no debate about B&W, those are also bright and fatiguing, that’s why so many people pair them with McIntosh stuff to try and tone that down with some warmth.

I have infinity sub with 33.4 Hz freequency . Owners manual suggest me a ported box with 45 ltre and port tuned for 36 Hz. Is it possible to tune the port bellow resonant freequncu of woofer? Is it have a ny effect in out put?

I doubt the Sprout and a top end BHK have much similarities in the sound, if any.

Hi Paul, and crew. Thanks for your informative and entertaining videos. In regards to your House Sound and as I don’t get out to Denver area often to hear in person, can you elaborate a bit more on your amplifiers sounds. As some high-end amps, have an extremely exact sound, and some may not be quite as precise, but a little warmer beautiful sound. Is there any direction you can kind of explain your amps sound towards. Thanks Ted
@markwilson52627 ай бұрын
defo not warm more clinical not my thing but its system dependent always
