Can u pls advise how I can fix 2” filter into 294mc pro camera - I thought in this video u will show - I have 2” uv/ir filter and was not able to fix into camera so I fixed inside my 73r flattener.
@AstroEscape3 жыл бұрын
That's the way to do it! I put mine in my flattener too! You could also get a filter drawer to make switching filters easier.

@@AstroEscape but lots of ppl are saying its wrong way filter has to be on camera close to sensor i dont know how untill unless if we reduce the filter size to 1.25 may be anyways thanks for responding stay blessed and safe - clear skies

I have the AstroTech AT60ED and just bought the ASIAIR PRO and ASI533MC PRO camera. So we have a lot of similarities in our new set-up. I look forward to your future comments and reviews! I will be working in parallel!

Nice! I've been drowned out by wildfire smoke all year which is a huge bummer, I'm hoping Autumn and Winter play a little more nice with the night sky to give me more time out there with this camera!

Hello! I am a novice astrophotographer from San Diego. I recently purchased the ASI294MC Pro camera. For now, I am planning to shoot wide-angle images with the Canon 50 mm lens. I got one IDAS NBZ Nebula Booster FIlter(Ha and OIII in one). Could you please help me with a few questions? 1. I am aiming to shoot the Milky Way Core and the Rho Ophiuchi. While running the APT tool, how should I set the gear as to which filter option should I select- Shall I do two separate sets of shots with Ha and OIII? 2. Also, can I shoot with the ASI without any filter directly as a basic DSLR? Would really appreciate your response.
@AstroEscape2 жыл бұрын
For Rho with that camera, neither filter is needed. Get a UV/IR cut filter (this is to answer your last question) at minimum, don't shoot without a filter with that camera. That's primarily to keep your stars sharp for the core and Rho. Using the Ha and OIII filters you'll lose a lot of color when going that wide. I don't use APT, but if you have the UV/IR cut, you can probably tell it you aren't using a filter.

i hope to try my first dedicated astro cam & asi air plus soon.. only i cannot afford the filters and filter drawer right now... would the zwo asi533 mc have to have the filter for nebulas ?
@AstroEscape3 жыл бұрын
If I remember right, at minimum you'd want an IR/UV filter for most dedicated astro cameras, that way the stars stay sharp. I have one for when I am at dark sky locations. Other than that something like the Optolong l-eNhance for nebulae is a good choice. I guess you could base that on how bad your light pollution is!

What has your experience been with the 294MC. Is the amp glow being removed with the 20 dark calibration frames you mention in your calibration frames video? Have you noticed any issues with using the filters with the 294? Another channel admitted with the Optolong L Extreme the 294 was leaving the same shape red background no matter what target was shot. Thanks.

It's been great. Calibration frames always take care of it. Yes, certain filters can cause problems but it's usually fine with calibration and careful processing.

Look forward to October with your 6 month review. I have the basic setup as you, 294MC Pro, ASI Air Pro, EFW with same Optolong filters. Please give some intermediate updates if possible.

I'll try to put out a few things, if not in video form, on my website..... provided these clouds go away. I think someone near me ordered some new gear (Wasn't me, I swear!)

I recently bought an SVBONY SV405CC Cooled Camera. It uses the IMX294 chip, but is a couple hundred dollars cheaper than the ZWO version.

Hi! Thanks for a nice video. I have the same camera and an L-Pro filter. Was going to buy an L-Enhance or L-Extreme but got scared of people reporting some strange color artefacts on the images and vignetting on the flats. I wonder if you have faced any issues like that? If yes, were you able to find a solution?
@AstroEscape2 жыл бұрын
With the enhance, no. I only use it for nebulae. The pro is great for galaxies and clusters. What bortle scale is your most common shooting location?
@vinikrish2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this detailed review! One question - is it possible to use 1.25" filters with good results on this one? If so where should I attach it in the imaging train? TIA
@AstroEscape2 жыл бұрын
It's possible, but not the best. Depending on your scope you might get a lot of vignetting, since there's not a lot of room for error to prevent it. If you have a flattener that can do 2 inch filters, that would be better.
@vinikrish2 жыл бұрын
@@AstroEscape Okay.. thanks for the response... I read that there is a thread on this camera itself, where a 2" filter can be added. Is that a good option? TIA!

Hey Daylon, I also use the Z61 and am looking to get my first dedicated astro cam (currently use a modified DSLR). This 294 is one I'm looking at - I'm just wondering why you chose this particular model as opposed to, say the 533MC pro or the 183MC pro (which I'm also looking at)? Did you consider pixel scale at all?
@AstroEscape2 жыл бұрын
I did not consider it, actually. When I ordered it, there was still a lot of shortages and I found the 294 available and in my budget, so I went for it!
@JJherne2 жыл бұрын
@@AstroEscape ok nice one :). I have been considering the 294 although I was a little concerned it may lead to under sampling. However I’m probably waaaaay over thinking things - anything will be an upgrade from my DSLR after all.
