Fun fact for the viewers: this drive is exactly the same as the non-branded version, just in a different box and at a higher price. Fun fact for Cam: the company is Western Digital (WD). Black is the name of their gaming branded drives.

These are actually going for a pretty good price now, if you can get a 2TB for $200 or less (no heatsink) jump on it (I got one for my PC last year). The 2TB SSDs are best because they usually include twice as much DRAM (1GB DRAM in the 1TB drive and 2GB DRAM in the 2TB drive, DRAM is used as a super fast write cache) and the SLC cache (a portion of the NAND Flash memory configured to write extra fast) is automatically twice as big due to having double the NAND chips, so your burst write speeds last twice as long. Bottom line is the 2TB model is faster for longer even if the maxium specs listed on the box are the same. Also price per-TB is best on the 2TB models, and most gamers can use it.

Don't worry, I've been using an HDD on my PS5 for 2 years now and when you go look at it in your storage settings it always acts like it's not there for a minute. It's just the PS5 being a little slow to read and show you the data so it looks very scary. Also just a quick tip! Don't forget to clean out your PS5 every few months to prevent too much dust from piling up inside on its heatsink! There's 2 little holes on 1 side of the console that are for trapping dust which you can then just easily vacuum It should help a lot in preventing components from overheating and even hardware failure Playstation recommends every few months, I'd say every 6 works perfectly

@@Cambonano hey there! Basically what the washer/ spacer does, is to keep the SSD level in the slot. I don't know if it can have any long term consequences, but since it's been working for a few months, I guess it can't be that bad. Love your content, and can't wait for GoW 😍

Hello! Having 667 GB of hard disk storage (in total) is unfortunately insufficient in 2022. I regularly have to uninstall after a new purchase. This is quite disturbing when you have a bad internet connection and it can take a long time to download a game. Buying a product like this WD Black SN850 would be a great thing. Plus, you show us the installation. The guy who has "two left hands" that I am thanks you. :p Good continuation to you. :)

If you have your games on the external HDD I recommend to switch them to the new SSD. The difference in speed is significant. Your loading times especially for PS5 games will be shorter. If your external drive really is a HDD

You can't play PS5 games from a HDD, only PS4 games. What most people do is keep the PS5 games they are not currently playing on the HDD, and then copy them back and forth between the SSD and HDD as needed. As for PS4 games, they don't really load all that much faster whether they are on an SSD or not.

@@Neil_Hanson interesting. I did not know that you can't play PS5 games from HDD, which makes sense. But games on SSD are faster than on HDD. It depends on the game, but loading times are significantly better with ssd.

@@kevinhamb Yeah, you're right actually. Some PS4 games have the loading times cut in half, while others are only a few seconds faster. I've never really bothered transferring PS4 games to the SSD, especially the non-replacable internal SSD. It just causes unnecessary wear to them in my opinion. In the future there's going to be a lot of dead PS5's around because the SSD will eventually fail and you can't replace it yourself.

You should have got the Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus 4TB NVMe 4.0 ... It's cheaper now but when I bought it on release day it cost me $1,200 That's what I bought and it outperforms any other NVMe SSD at this size. I also bought the Sabrent PS5 Heatsink for it

I rounded off the screw head slot that holds the SSD in place when fitting mine. Had a hell of a job getting it out but managed it eventually. Then I had to trawl the internet getting a suitable replacement! 🫣
