Just installed the TireMinder A1AS system on my F-450/Jayco Seismic 4113 this weekend. The installation was WAY easier than the cheapo unit that kept losing signal that I had on my F-350 with 30' RV. The hardest part of the installation was getting the sensors installed on the inside valve stems of the dually and dialing in the tire pressure (I am one of those guys that had to get them all EXACTLY the same). I also got the 6-sensor system, and purchased an additional 6 sensors for the truck. Pro (or idiot) Tip: The F-450 comes with the "Inflate Through" valve caps. TAKE THOSE OFF!!! I had one tire losing air because installing the sensors on them loosened the cap. Glad that happened before I discovered that problem on the road!!! Thanks for the reviews & recommendations JD!!!

I’m run the TST 507 and have been very happy with it. It comes with a booster, which I wired to the battery in the front storage and mounted inside the bay. The front storage is about halfway between the tire sensors and the monitor. I’ve had no problems with signal or the system after 6 months of use. I’m curious why you didn’t wire the booster closer to the front of the trailer or out of the elements?

I have used the Tire Minder Smart TPMS that connected to my Phone and swapped to The TST. Did not care for that Model very much for the following reasons. 1. would not automatically scroll through my tires unless i chose auto scroll from the menu. 2. Phone App was not easy to read and did not like having to mount my Phone to my dash. 3. caused significant battery drain on my phone. 4. did not have pass through sensors allowing me to fill my tires without removing the sensors. Functionally i had no problems with the Tire Minder. Just was not happy at all with that particular Tire Minder system, and the fact that they did not have pass through sensors.

J.D., thanks so much for sharing your expertise regarding RVs. I’ve learned quite a lot from your videos. After experiencing two bearing failures and a blowout, I finally dropped the $500 for a TST TPMS for my truck and my dual axle travel trailer. As I now process the information the device provides, I realize I should have done more research on what to expect in terms of numbers. What I’m noticing is the numbers with regard to temp and PSI diverge (sometimes by as much as six degrees temperature or a few pounds psi pressure). This includes tires on the same side of the vehicle and tires on the same axle. Any chance you can share some information on what to expect from the numbers when you start using a TPMS? How are they affected by air temp, speed, etc.? What other forces are at play and how do you interpret the numbers? Thanks!

I like the display having all the truck tires at once and then the trailer tires. One big thing I learned about TPMS is that you MUST have metal value stems. I had rubber and I had two flats, one on the trailer and one on my truck because of broken valve stems cause by the stems flexing with the pressure monitor. I not sure I like this system of using a nut to lock the monitor on stem if you have a dually. It is difficult enough just screwing on the monitor on the duallies. I would of like to seen you doing this task so we would know how much trouble it is to back lock the nut on a dually. I have the EezTire TPMS on a fifth wheel and F350 Dually.

I like the constant display of all tires. I don't like that they don't have "flow through" sensors so you can adjust tire pressure without having to remove the sensor every time. I know the TST system offers those.
@NYVET48TFW3 жыл бұрын
I disagree...no, wait, I agree...well, kinda...can I say both? LOL. Seriously, I had the Tire Minder four-tire system on my last 5th wheel and absolutely loved it! I've heard many reviewers gripe can't the lack of a 'flow-through' sensor, but...who cares? Seriously, as long as it's giving me my tire pressures, I don't care how it does it! What I really liked about it was the windshield-mounted solar display with backup micro-USB port, probably for those who do mostly night driving though I've driven plenty of hours after dark and the battery stayed charged. Also really liked how you can see ALL FOUR tire pressures AND temps on the same screen! Small, yes, but big enough to see, day or night, and it was a color screen too. It was cheap ($142 at the time, it's since gone up), it's reliable, and extra batteries came with it as well. They're supposed to last 6 months but I got more than a year out of my first set. I recently changed to a TST system, which I really like as well, but only because it came with my new 5th wheel and I gave my old one to my son, so now he's got the Tire Minder. I actually recommend EITHER of the two. Actually just get SOMETHING to monitor your trailer tires. It's one of the most important things you can ever do if you're gonna tow!

I had the same model Tire Minder system and switched to the TST about 4 months ago. I had two sensors on the Tire Minder go bad. I didn’t like that the Tire Minder would go to “sleep” and I would have to press a button to feel comfortable that it was still working. I’m sure the new model did away with this shortcoming. I find that the TST color display can be nearly impossible to see when the sun light is on it - which seems like most of the day. I installed my tire minder and TST the same way you did, attaching to the running lights for power. I always travel with the lights on. I was able to put the repeaters (Tire Minder and TST) so that the antenna was pointing down right below the front of the fifth wheel, behind the front armor plate. Both are good units and each has its own pros and cons. They leap frog one another! The important point is to install a good quality tire minder product! It could save your rig and your life!

Here is my concern. The tire minder systems say that they check for problems every 6 seconds. A tire that is rapidly going down isn't going to be detected by that until its likely too late. In 6 seconds that tire is flat and very likely coming apart and doing damage by the time you can get pulled over. Why not monitor continuously?

The clips are for quick and easy connecting and disconnecting to the battery for storage reasons. You don't want it powered up when you are not using the trailer and tapping wires on some trailers is difficult.
