I think y’all are smart for running the basket picker. The cost per acre makes sense when you don’t have to buy the expensive machine and wrap and you have good help.

Jim, great video, can you show us what the peanuts are used for? Are they oil nuts, roasting nuts or peanut butter nuts? When we grew potatoes, we grew different varieties for different applications.

We run roller pickers and they are very productive machines. Our cotton and peanut harvest seasons overlap and those type cotton pickers make it possible to get both crops harvested in a timely manner which is critical to any farming operations survival especially with qualified farm labor hard to find. They will far outperform Basket pickers there is really no comparison. They are expensive but dollar per acre worth it if an operation is large enough to need one.

Yeah that would be a huge benefit for us is when we do overlap! But it is nice not having a picker payment

@@FieldRows with the new CP770s out now, there are some deals to be found on good used CP690s and 7760s. We were fortunate enough to be able to get our 2009 7760 at a good price in 2013. Even then, we had to think long and hard before biting off that payment. But this is our eleventh crop with it. That one machine replaced two 4 row basket pickers, two operators, a boll buggy, tractor, and operator, two module builders, two tractors and operators. By selling most of that equipment, we were able to offset a large portion of the cost of the 7760, plus we were able to upgrade a few pieces of our other equipment. And it enables us to finish an overlapping cotton and peanut harvest.

Kudos to Jim for the strength to realize that he doesn’t need to respond to this person. This person needs to understand that Jim’s channel is kinda like Chik-Fil-A…..they’re doing just fine being closed on our Lord’s day.
