Upgrading Pickups In A 335 Style Guitar - Part 2

In this part 2 of this series, Steve from Guitar Lodge shows us his method for replacing the jack socket, the pots and the switch inside the body cavity of this 335 style guitar. There are a couple of tips and tricks to learn here but remember, Steve has done this many times and makes it look easy..... ish.

This is why if my Epiphone 335 ever needs new pots or pickups I will place it in a sail boat, push it out to sea and shoot fire arrows so it can have a true Viking burial :) Having said that, I had to change the jack socket on a friends 339 before Xmas and using pipe cleaners instead of wire to pull it through F hole and place back and managed that without losing my mind. Great job though and fascinating to watch an expert at work.

Great video; this might be a dumb question, but why would there be continuity between the bridge/tailpiece bushings and the electronics?

bridge has an earth bond cable connected from inside to pickup, so when you earth it by your body/hand touching strings it doesn't buzz.

there is a much easy technic to put back all the pots with a transfusion tube you by it to the pharmacien. you push the tube in the pot and just have to pass the tube in the holes.👍😉

You just need something who fit with the button like a soft tube to be able to do it. The soft tube for transfusion is exactly the good fit for me and cost nothing and you can use ot always for others guitars

I see in the video they do not let sufficient wire between the pots but you should leave more wire the more wire you have and the easiest you will be able to put them back.
