I'll just leave this here: Adding 17 extra lbs to the forward-most point on the car does *nothing but help a FWD car*. Weight reduction to the front end is the worst possible thing you could do for performance. ;)

Truly didn’t even think of this. Thanks for pointing this out!
@WahlVids2 жыл бұрын
Also, I've read adding a spare tire will help with stability. Maybe more so for Kona N, but FWD cars suffer from uneven weight distribution
@Wazza722 Жыл бұрын
i wouldn’t say adding 17 more pounds to the front of a car that engineees designed to have 17 pounds less is a good thing!
@Jafromobile Жыл бұрын
@@Wazza722 Engineers don't know everything. Neither do non-Engineers, but regarding FWD and traction, I know that a 70/30 weight ratio for FWD and drag racing is optimal. I promise you that Elantra is nowhere close to that. Engineers are designing a mass-marketed street car that happens to have some performance. It will not conform to the highest performance standards without modification. Weight is a huge factor with FWD once you make more than 300hp. My Elantra runs 13.0008@116mph, and only because it has no traction until after the 1/8 mile is over. Won't get up and out of the hole, but boy, that back half... You can make all the power in the world, but it's worthless without traction. This is why you see all the import FWD drag cars totally gutted with rear innards cut out, lexan windows, and pizza cutters on the back for rear wheels and tires, and huge compounds on the front. They mount the battery, gas tank, and dang near everything else to the front bumper. I promise I wouldn't mislead you. With a turbo FWD car that you're turning up... adding 17 front-end pounds is a good thing.

Nice install video! Honest question: What was the main reason you decided to drop the $$$ on the intercooler? I know you have taken the car to the drag strip, so is that where you imagine this having the biggest benefit? Would you recommend it to those who are just daily driving their N’s and won’t see any track time? It looks like a really nice piece, but almost $800 is pretty steep for a supporting mod. 10hp is nice, but adding 13+ lbs might negate the majority of that. Thanks as always for the top notch content!
@ENtense2 жыл бұрын
I’d say for anyone who drives this daily, and also drives it the way it’s “meant” to be driven, keeping temps down is very important. While yes, taking it for a few laps on a road course is where it will be the most noticeable for gains and temps, there’s definitely no downside to upgrading. Also if you plan on adding a dp, intake, hpfp, along with getting a tune, this is very necessary. As of right now, those are my plans. Thanks for watching my friend 🙏🏻

People ask all the time think of it like this the sonata nline has almost 300hp and 311lb-ft of torque they both use the same transmission so in assuming it would be fine around 350lbft of torque on the trans
@anthonyscott5484 Жыл бұрын
@@terelll6990hellll no. This engine is phenomenal tuners are pushing this car in the 430-450hp range and well over 400 torque people having no problems. Transmission wise, booth are DCT's the gearing ratios are different because the full N cars are truly meant to race not the n line models. some slippage occurs on the DCT just depends, however a clutch pack is being developed for those pushing over 400hp to prevent the slipping. Other than that it's perfect . I'm at 360hp and can't complain I will be pushing into 400s soon enough. I come from the Subaru world, and anytime you add a mod you gotta account for it with a tune…bov, front mount intercooler, etc. is that not needed with these cars? ECU compensates just fine?

Not necessary, but a tune will surely help immensely after going full bolt on. Car runs perfectly fine without a tune, although it’s in the plans, it’ll likely be the last thing I do after I get all the parts I want.

Also another point Looks like the kit comes with t-bolt clamps I'm personally not a fan of t-bolt clamps especially if it's on a coverture of the pipe They don't like to seal well as opposed to a regular worm clamp. In your video you mention about tightening them down really tight. You want to be really careful tightening those t-bolts down because if you tighten them down too tight you'll end up bending the aluminum on the outlets.
