I know lots of people don’t like the BAD lever or Phase 5 ambi-levers for the ping pong paddles. But if you are using it to lock your bolt it’s amazing and for competition use it’s also pretty important. Of course it’s a bad habit for regular guy shooting, but on a static range it’s fine.

How did you get your KNS anti rotational pins to go on there? On my MCX Virtus on the right side the forward portion of it contacts the "ridge" by the mag release and wont let me mount them flush, or really at all. Did you have to modify them in any way?

Tried the geissele sights, couldn’t get enough windage adjustment on them. Had two sets with the same issue. Never had an issue with DD, magpul or Troy and the flat head screw is a no go in my book

I see you have anti-walk pins on the trigger. Did you just install those with the stock trigger, or did you swap out for a different trigger? I’m a big fan of Geissele’s SD-3G flat face that resides in another one of my ARs, want to put one in my MCX. Mechanically the triggers are the same, pin holes are the same, etc. but there’s talk out there of the carrier slamming the hammer back too hard and damaging the connector. I think that’s mainly attributed to the MPX model, but I’d hate to drop $250 on a trigger and bust it.

It makes it ambi so you can control it with both your right and left hand. Without it you are limited to retaining and releasing the bolt with only your left.

Just a heads up; the recoil system of the MCX isn't unique at all. Originally based off the AR18, the guide-rod system when done properly allows for a steady and reliable cycle without any part of the bolt carrier touching the receiver frame. It is so robust and reliable that it has been copied relentlessly to make the: AUG L85 G36 FN-FNC Daewoo Japanese rifle I forget the name of besides "Type #" MP7 And many more. The sad thing is that despite outperforming the AKM, only Ireland got to appreciate the AR18 due to Armalite getting denied trade deals by the federal government. However, the Irish loved the AR18 so much they wrote a song about it called "Me Little Armalite" I personally think sig did a bad job with this system, solely because they're retaining the massive surface area that the AR15 bolt would rub against instead of just making a more robust bolt carrier. Overall I think the best way to improve the design is to throw in the internals of the BRN-180, but since Brownells only does sporting rifles we're kinda stuck with the MCX as the only tactical option.

Hey OP! Hoping you can help me. I ordered an MCX Virtus Patrol, and I've already done all my paperwork. Sig sent me a Magpul stock instead of the OE stuff, and im hoping I can get the OE stock from Sig but my expectations are low... I noticed you swapped the ENTIRE stock assembly out from the pic rail back, but can you replace JUST the stock? And if so, do I need to look for something specific? Or am I stuck replacing the whole assembly?

How is the handguard comfort on the mcx. I have been looking for a bufferless 5.56, and I like the sig but that handguard looks super big and bulky to me. Also looking at the b&t apc 223, bren 1&2, xcr, scar 16. I might just wait a couple years and see if hk puts out a commercial 433 variant. Idk.

Its definitely fatter then your average ar15 Handguard. But ive replaced myn with a slimmer one from midwest industries. You wont find an AR that folds along with the modularity that beats this beauty. Just never buy the first generation. Also keep dreaming about that civi 443

Nope. On Full auto lowers it keeps the high (100,000) rounds fired count from causing the trigger pin holes from going oval due to the huge number of repetition cycles; this is of no concern on a semi automatic lower. KNS pins are window dressing.

I would say a buffer tube is 10x easier and convenient then a pic rail. No tools bro. I wouldn’t go as far to say it’s the smartest thing they have done. Nice rifle tho

Fair comment, the fact they got rid of the need for a buffer tube in an Ar type platform was quite smart, though that’s also been done by others such as DRD, but the pic rail stock adaptor has since be widely copied and is not commonplace on a lot of firearms. Smartest maybe not, but one of their more influential moves in the last 10ish years.
