My very 1st bike was a MT09 just like yours. After ~ 1.5 years/10k miles mostly by myself and in mixed environments, if I could do it again - I’d start on a 400cc

The grass always seems greener on the other side of the fence doesn't it? You sir brought up some excellent points that get overlooked in our quest for consumerist nirvana. Well done!

Thanks for the awesome feedback ! And yes, its always greener. I am so grateful I started on a smaller bike, as that was some of the most fun I've ever had on a motorcycle!!!

I’ve been on the fence to move on to the MT09sp 24 after test riding the 23. My plans were to get a Honda 650 because it seemed practical coming from Triumph Street Twin, but that MT just puts a smile on my face months afterwards.

Do it!!! I've had mine 3 years, and I can't let it go. It's too good of an all-rounder. And for the money, it shard to find similar reliability, power and smiles per miles anywhere else. If you can stretch for it financially, a tune does make it run like a god damn dream 👌. Damn euro 5 out here making these bikes restricted from factory !

just got my license, in eu you have to drive 10 hours on the street, a driving school had an offer where you got 20 hours for the price of 10 so double the new rider training, i had a mt 07, v-strom 650 and kawa 650 for training, now i want to buy my first bike... my head says mt 07 but my heart says street triple 765 r and ride it in rain mode for a bit... any thoughts? is it a death wish to buy the 765 r as a first bike? id say im a pretty chill rider, not that into speeding

Congrats on getting your license!!!! My first thing would be, is that 20 hours really is nothing in the grand scheme of things... so definitely keep learning as you ride! That being said. My neighbor has a white 765 R, and it's a really nice bike. The main thing I'd point out is that they are very expensive to repair if you do drop it... AND they still pack a punch in speed if you wind out the RPM. Overall, if you genuinely in your heart of hearts think you'll take it easy, then go for it! I just know that for many 'sensible' people, me included, sooner rather than later, you WILL want to see what it's got. We ALL do it 😉! Just respect that a 765R is NOT a 'small' bike. Luckily, the tripples are very linear in power, so you'll get less accidental throttle jerkyness compared to a larger single or triple cylinder! Send me a Pic on Instagram when you get the new bike 😉. And as always, RIDE SAFE my friend!!!
