Another great video Ollie. Fantastic to see the JPAC guidelines in there, and it’s good that you’re outlining the hierarchy of red cell safety. Crossmatched > group specific > emergency O neg.

Practical consideration for IV starts though as I have been a patient on an other side. Large bore IV's are great in theory, but might be hard to actually achieve for some patients. I am a tough start to begin with on a hood day and was that much worse when I was lacking in blood volume. Each IV (even for a 18 or 22g) took multiple pokes and they ended up having to go to non traditional sites such as my foot. I lost two IVs during my hospital stay and was pretty close to needing a central line inserted as they almost couldn't get anything anywhere else.

Sorry about your difficult experiences. Acess is often necessary unfortunately and as you say we'll commonly try feet or other sites - even intraosseous access through bone if we really need it

Hi Sir, recently my aunt died due to Upper GI bleed. Till now I don't know the reason. But she consumed Pendinisolen 5mg x12pils, and Paradox 150mg 2 times per day. Is that the reason she got GI? Pls help and clear my doubt.

Hi Ollie, I was wondering if I could drop you a quick message on one of your socials? I’m applying to Medical school this year, including Warwick. Are you still offering mock interview questions? I realise you’ll be really busy with work so no worries if not!

Go right ahead and message - instagram probably best. I will try to do a few during December when I'm on my academic job, just absolutely no capacity until then unfortunately.
