Actually that is not the Upper room. In fact, that has been lost to time ages ago. When the crusaders first took Jerusalem they searched for the Cenacle and found only ruins. So they rebuilt it upon what they believed to be the foundations of the Cenacle, with careful consultations to the oldest Christian families of Jerusalem and with sparce ancient descriptions of the building written by Roman pilgrims during the 2nd to 4th centuries. Those columns, that roof, that floor, everything there was built during the Middle Ages.

It's believed the actual "upper" room is now underground due to what's been built up around it. It's a very simple small dark room. Most true sites, such as Jacob's well, are below the regular ground level now in Israel.

Shepherd Todd, why do you conclude with "imagery of the New Covenant"? Is His blood "imagery"?
@HolyLandSite6 жыл бұрын
Because the Last Supper deals with the New Covenant in which Christ shed His blood on the Cross for the payment of our sins.
@amexaccount80576 жыл бұрын
His real blood of the real New Covenant is very different than "imagery of the New Covenant". I can't square your teaching of "imagery" with His words "this is".
@HolyLandSite6 жыл бұрын
I fully agree with you. I didn't mean to infer by using the word imagery to say that it wasn't Christ's real blood that was shed that is the New Covenant. Sorry for the confusion.
@amexaccount80576 жыл бұрын
A thousand thanks, Shepherd Todd. A frightful mission you have. I am hopeful I will benefit from your patient teaching about the last sacrifice. Could you please teach me why God covered our first parents in leather? Were leaves not sufficient?
@HolyLandSite6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question! The most common understanding of why God covered Adam and Eve with animal skins after their fall in the Garden of Eden was to show them that their sin had a price. God killed an animal, which was the first animal sacrificed, that showed Adam and Eve that their sinfulness had to be covered with a sacrifice. This sacrifice was a foreshadow of the sacrificial system God would institute on Mt. Sinai when He gave the Law and the Ten Commandments, and then later Christ's sacrifice on the Cross which would be the ultimate payment for our sins. This is the first and most common view of why God used animal skins. Another reason, which is not nearly as important, was that animal skins would last a lot longer than leaves. Leaves wilted quickly and lasted only a brief time. Later, when the earth became more populated, people needed coverings that would last longer so their nakedness would not be exposed to others. Hope these two reasons help!

Most likely started at the temple and had nothing to do with the upper room, "And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple..." It was the hour of prayer, "...it is but the third hour of the day", so the Apostles would have reason to be at the 'house' of God, ..."and it filled all the house where they were sitting." 3000 people couldn't fit into the Upper Room, but could fit in the temple's courtyard. Peter and the other apostles "abode" in the Upper Room, "....they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James". Mary and any other women would not be allowed in the sleeping area of the men. "...These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren." Yes, they were living in the Upper Room, but they gathered, with the women, for prayer in the courtyard of the Temple.

This is Not the Upper Room in Jerusalem,nor is it the "Beloved "𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐝" which is called..... 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐮-𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐌, for that is actually in 𝐓𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐝 and was in existence long before ,King David or Solomon ever ruled there and it was at first called the "𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐦" for it was established even before our Father Abraham. The reason I know this is because the Bible tells us that our father Abraham[Peace be upon Him] brought forth a 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡 of the spoils of His war with the 𝐅𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 to this very place as an Holy OFFERING and 𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐇𝐄 to honor the 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠 who ruled here over this Mighty City. He was the First King of the City of 𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐌 which means [𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞]. It was right there in 𝐓𝐞𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐝 the City of 𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐌 where our father Abraham brought His Tithe [𝐇𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝟕:𝟐] and then He entered into a HOLY Covenant with this 𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐄𝐎𝐔𝐒 King of 𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐌[𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐞],for the Bible says of Him...."𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞 𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐝: “𝐁𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐞 𝐀𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐛𝐲 [𝐘𝐀𝐇𝐔𝐀𝐇♛] 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡, 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡"(𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝟏𝟒:𝟏𝟖-𝟏𝟗) .....Eventually, Abraham's Great Grandson King David would capture that Fortress city from the Jebusites [𝟐][𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥][𝟓:𝟔]He then renamed it [𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐮-𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐌].....The "𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 of ["𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐮-𝐒𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐌"] which is where [𝐘𝐀𝐇𝐔𝐒𝐇𝐀♛𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐡],Our [𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐒𝐓♛] took 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 and 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐞 in the 𝐔𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐦 and where He actually ate His last 𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐥! .. King 𝐃𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐝 also brought the 𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐀𝐂𝐋𝐄 of [𝐘𝐀𝐇𝐔𝐀𝐇♛] here and laid it to rest in[𝟐 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥][𝟔] and this is also where David's son Solomon built the Temple of God and dedicated it to [𝐘𝐀𝐇𝐔𝐀𝐇♛]! [𝐏𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐦][𝟏𝟑𝟐:𝟏𝟑] "𝐅𝐨𝐫 [𝐘𝐀𝐇𝐔𝐀𝐇♛] 𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐧 𝐙𝐈𝐎𝐍; 𝐇𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐃𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞." .... FOREVER!!!.....That's all.....Shalom

For one moment I do not think the 'upper room ' In Jerusalem City is the place of the upper room , for one the architecture is Gothic . it may be close by an possibly underground a fair bit , but it's not that room. Tel Arad cannot be The City of David , that is already in archaeological Jerusalem today and is bieng uncovered , with finds dating back to that time . it may be a fortification of King David's but the city walls a way to small . Just my opinion , but it doesnt matter anyway Jesus Christ is Risen and that is what is important :) Amen
