Very good comparison. I’ve heard about the differences between uprights and grands, but your comparison really pointed out what to look (hear) for.

Great video but very problematic placement of microphones. The voice is too distant to hear everything unless volume is set to the max

14:51-14:56 is that intro from some piece, or how to play that? Sounds cool

Hi there - a lot of what I play in these videos is improvised music, keeps things fresh and allows me to play something that can showcase a specific thing I want to talk about. This little snippet is a big stretch of C6 arpeggios - starting with deep bass octave Cs and then spiraling upwards with C6 (C-E-G-A) arpeggios. -Max

Would my 55" heintzman be equivalent to a 6' parlour grand?
@ZaneGrayMusicMaster1 Жыл бұрын
@@katiegrundle9900 roughly speaking, yes. The soundboard of a 52” upright is almost exactly the same size of a 7’ grand, so at 55”, you’re getting a huge soundboard. Apart from just the intricate tonal differences of an upright versus a grand piano, your upright will probably be slightly nicer and maybe a bit warmer than a 6’ grand in the mids and highs. But in the bass strings, an upright just can’t fit the same length as a grand, so that is where the tone will be lacking a bit. Hope that helps.
