That and they were okay with having women of all shapes in their videos. Some men too. I grew up watching 90's music videos both in English and in Spanish and the way women were represented before was nothing like now. Naturally beauty, and women of all shapes, sizes, and skin color. As a kid I didn't take notice until in my late teens which was the end of the 90's that more and more of the women in videos where looking like each other, whether they were naturally that way or enhanced by medical procedures. To each their own, but unfortunately it's not their choice if they want to be successful nowadays, because people value more materialistic and "beauty" over talent and self worth.

Missin' my late 90s/early '00s era. :'(

It really is a shame, she was a real inspiration/legend. That era honestly felt like a once in a lifetime experience. There are a few who at least put in effort now days, I'll give them some credit, I'm sure it can be hard to find that natural flow that these ladies seem to have in spades, a real talent. Everything seemed new and expressive back then, from the lyrics to the clothes and hair. You never knew who or what was going to pop up in a video. I can't even describe the goosebumps I get while watching this video. From the dope bars, to the classic cameos from a who's who of 90's female artist, to the pure nostalgia of the 90's this video is everything that is missing from the female side of Hip-Hop. And I cannot forget about Left-Eye. It stills take my breathe away when I see or hear her. They say that time heals everything but everyone can attest that Left-Eye's death has had an everlasting void on us all.

It's the fact that Left Eye and Brat were already established in the game and they joined Lil' Kim on her DEBUT album for a collab with no egos and no conditions, they just had RESPECT for each others craft and welcomed Kim to the game. Today's female rappers could NEVER, artists like Nicki Minaj will do a collab with a new girl and the girls cannot collab with other female rappers without her being upset.
