Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Last night I, I saw you standing
And I started, started pretending
That I knew you, and you knew me too
And just like a Roni, you were too shy
But you weren't the only, 'cause so was I
And I dreamed of you ever since
Now I build up my confidence
Girl next, next time you come my way
I'll know just what to say...
[Chorus]
Can we talk for a minute?
Girl, I want to know your name
Can we talk for a minute?
Girl, I want to know your name
[Verse 2]
I started to write you letters
But I wanted to be more clever
I wanted to get down and sweet talk you
Hey, baby
But just like a baby, I could not talk
And I tried to come closer, but could not walk
And I think of it every night
How I just could not get it right! Oh!
If we ever come close again
I'll know what I'll say then, yeah
[Chorus]
Can we talk for a minute?
Girl, I want to know your name
Can we talk for a minute?
Girl, I want to know your name
[Bridge]
Oh, girl...
One more chance with you again
I will not let it go!
Oh, please! Give me just one more chance for love, love, love, love
[Chorus]
Can we talk for a minute?
Girl, I want to know your name
Can we talk for a minute?
Girl, I want to know your name
Can we talk?
I wanna talk to my baby
Come on and talk to me baby
Girl, I want to know your name
Can we talk for a minute?
Girl, I want to know your name
Can we talk?
Come on and talk to me baby
See I wanna know
You better tell me your name baby
Can we talk for a minute?
I wanna know, I wanna know
I want to know your name
Can we talk for a minute?

I found about this song today. In middle, it was lunch time and I was eating but then, I heard this song and I instantly fell in love with this song, everyone was singing so peacefully and I felt like I was in heaven! It was such a vibe. But I lost it right after the song ended. I was asking my friends whats the name of this song. Fortunately, One of them, told me. I was so happy!! I will keep listening to this at least 5 times a day! I rate this song 10/10 :) 10/25/21

um...no, the 80s and 90s were awful as far as music. Computer inventions allowed sampling, lip syncing and straight up theft of music. I prefer music from the 1970s and before. That's when artists really did sing, that's when musicians really played and that's when an artist earned his paycheck and award - you didn't get an award or paycheck for sampling someone else's music! Etta James, James Brown and so many other talented artists and groups EARNED their paychecks and they gave concertgoers a show to remember. Now, you can have someone make one song and called himself or herself an 'artist'. Heavy sigh.

@@lesliekaddie we do have them but TikTok and other social media platforms are literally spammed with ‘songs’ about having millions, f*cking bi*ches and smoking weed. Real talent and substance are not appreciated nor needed to make it big anymore. Female R&B singers are facing the same issues. It’s disappointing to see how amazingly talented ladies like Sevyn Streeter, Jazmine Sullivan and Tinashe are overlooked because their music is not all about shaking their fat booties, having big titties and a birkin.

I think part of the disparity is that a lot of those artists were literal children when the hits premiered. Now artists are hitting well after puberty so the ranges just aren’t possible

@@genaeyoung180 Oh yes, we've always known about the Hollywood Industry from my grandmother's generation and she would be 100 years old this year. Every Super Model, Movie Stars, TV Stars, Musicians and Authors as well. Tevin Campbell couldn't believe how famous he is in SA when he was performing in 2016 and he even came back the second time around in 2019 because of the reception. Hollywood Stars still get amazed when they visit South Africa or any other country around the world how people still honour, value and appreciate their craft even though they are no longer as famous as they used to be in America......
