A great rapper is great because of his ability to put melody on what he's rapping. It sounds rhythmic but the melody is always there, at least for the great ones. Listen to your buddy do a cover of a great rap track. He can say all the words with the same rhythm, but it isn't great because he doesn't have that voice

@Tone R. Both are classics but you can tell Kriss Kross was written as a hit for some kids. It's a pure pop construction when you think about it, samples the Jackson 5, utilizes the boom bap energy of 90s hip hop (which we now realize was biting House of Pain's swag from "Jump Around"), using the Das EFX "iggity" rhyming style that a lot of people swag-jacked at the time. Lyrics complete throwaways whereas Everlast's battle style bars are still on point to this day.

I was in middle school when Jump popped. I went to my first house party. Had to be hundreds of teenagers in this two story house. I’ll never forget being on the first floor and the DJ put on jump around. You could literally see the second floor bouncing from everyone jumping. From the bottom floor, shit look like it was about to cave in. Luckily it didn’t. It was so dope. Very few songs have that enthusiasm from it’s listeners.

It's a great song and video still. The intro, beat, lyrics, video and presentation from the man in the Celtics jersey. It makes me miss my old bar hopping and keg party days in the Northeast. Well done.

I was 13 when this song dropped, my then living, drug addicted mother lied me into rehab by telling the state stories of her substance abuse while replacing her name with mine and BOOM 8 month paid for babysitter by force. FTR I STILL don't do drugs as I didn't then. Life has its ways of coming at you even if only instigated by others imagination and corruption. Thanks for the cut Everlast, I still rock that song today.

I wanna hear his take on the beef with DJ Quik but I don't think Talib may have been aware of that song and beef like that.It was only last year when Quik spoke on it on Quest Love podcast and Danny Boy spoke on it a few years ago but I never heard Everlast speak on it

@@martinvela-sanchez9396 Yeah that's what Danny Boy from House of Pain said but I never heard it specifically from Everlast which he will probably say the same thing. The thing though Quik said it was bcuz what he did or didn't say about Ice T in a magazine and I do remember bcuz I had the issue back in the day.Everlast was real cool with Ice T so they knew they had to have an excuse to just go at a rapper without being just labeled haters.Quik did call Ice T a buster it had nothing to do with Cypress if anything if was Cypress who was backing Everlast bcuz I think they weren't happy at comments Quik was saying either about gang culture then turn around and be banging at his shows.Cypress thought he was a hypocrite so B Real probably was like we'll just use his video as an excuse to why you dissed him referring to Everlast

"Jump Around" was massive in Ireland when it came out and it still is due to the House of Pain's Irish connection☘ It was such a huge track that some bars and clubs tried to ban D.Js from playing it because it sent the crowd so wild jumping everywhere and throwing their drinks in the air and causing general mayhem, it was insane😂
