It is very difficult to take maths as optional in telugu because mostly books are not available in english. If you have genuine intrest in maths and some background like B.Sc or B.Tech then you should go for maths otherwise you shouldn't choose it.but I don't think medium is a barrier because you can appear in exam with GS in any language and maths in english. I will also choose GS in hindi and maths in English so don't get confused you should choose gs in telugu and maths in English
