Hey Grace, you use a credit or debit card and enter the card info. The app does not get your card info unless you want it to. You pay regular price and then wait a day or 2 and the discount is added to your account. It is almost the same as "cash back" offers on credit cards. Hope that makes sense. Any questions let me know, It does not work with cash transactions. They use the last 4 numbers of your card to verify purchase and send you the rebate.
