( Coming across the Akane roleplay clip. Looking up the possible meanings for "Akane Ryuuku" kind of gives you weird results "Ryuu" means "dragon." "Akane" apparently refers to a dark red color. However, "Ku" refers to either pain/anguish/suffering, or a district/sector. I don't know if this is correct, or if it means something. But it's funny how the cute roleplay character has such a weird name. Probably says a lot about how roleplayers choose random names solely based on how they sound for their jp ocs??? Or just butcher them completely )

Akane is actually a fairly common name in Japan. Also look up the definitions of some of the less simple European family names, it gets pretty wild. Though admittedly most of the really crazy definitions are found in given names. For instance Colin, a fairly popular Biblical name, means "one who is like God". Yes, all that in a five letter name, that's basically one word per letter.

Last part is so true. I see a lot of JP names for characters despite them not making sense. It would be cooler if the names actually meant something like one of the kanji in their last name was related to their role (like using 蓮 which means Lotus because the character symbolises purity or the light)
