As someone who never actually watched gumball I... would have NEVER expected this. Just from the style you can tell it's really chaotic and weird but it actually turns out to be good and genuinely funny. And also, I mean, the HUGE amount of self-awareness and knowledge of Internet media this show has is amazing. I always expected cartoons of kinda the same age as gumball to not risk too much and just avoid talking about Internet stuff, also the humor doesn't feel like one you would find in a cartoon but at the same time it feels like it. I remember being in High school when this first came out. I reminded me so much of the 90s cartoons I grew up with. The pretty colored characters for the kids, and the beautiful dark jokes for the adults and kids when they grow up and can understand them, causing those same children now adults to laugh and look on in horror at what was hidden from their once innocent minds. Ahhh, this show will always be an honorary 90s cartoon for that.
