Thanks so much for the video and it really helps for the first timers in freelancing. My first experience is they offered $3000 via telegram. I did the work and submitted earlier and given them dl access to the file. After that is they sent an email w/the payment confirmation and was asked to pay $250 for “levy” to process their payment and then they are pressuring me to pay that amount but I explained that dont have that amount. I was sad but i need to move on and be cautious next time.

No, na biktima ako dyan. They are asking an amount and they word it as levy, processing, deposit etc. Do not provide any amount nor you bank details.

It's Upwork themselves scamming freelancers now. Imagine applying for a $50 job and you will have to use 12 connects, and the client has an unverified payment method. Upwork has become greedy.

Meron po akong nameet na scammer kagabi haha. Stupid daw ako nanghihingi lang naman ako ng proof of identity nya kase sa whatsapp nya gusto makipag usap. Nastress ko daw sya amp hahaha.

Hi Thanks for this! But how would I know if the client or company is legit before I submit a proposal? because in submitting a proposal, you would need a number of connects and it will just go to waste if it turn out it's a scam! I know bcoz he wanted to talk via Telegram (outside upwork).

Chay once I noticed the pattern I changed which clients I pursue. If I see that payment in unverified, zero dollar spend in the past, and obviously no spend I skip them. I don't care if they're base in the USA they're too risky to take on. Tapos kung masyadong mahal yung bayad sa sobrang simpleng trabaho alam ko na they're just trying to hook you. Another sign is they try to immediately connect you to someone else who is on Telegram or WhatsApp (I'm assuming also on Viber and Signal meron). What fuckin assholes!!! Why isn't UpWork fixing this??? Sobrang simple lang naman diba. Sheesh...
