Enjoy your videos & tips on the Ural. The last vehicle I had with manual showing how to check & service was my 1962 VW Beetle. My Japanese bikes say "Take it to your nearest dealer" I was pleasantly surprised when I bought my 2020 Ural cT that a manual was supplied showing the basics. A very good bit of old school that I appreciate. Thank you for sharing👍

Hi Keith. Top video as always. Two things 4 u. Spark plug torque from NGK is 25 to 30Nm. for alloy heads. Also, the loose grommet thingy is always worth checking. But, another is checking the shiny metal protector plate covering the cable pulley. If hit by a rock it can bear against the pulley. Check underneath as well. Especially if the twistgrip firms up or feels strange.

Cool, thanks👍 Thats seems like a lot of Torque on the spark plugs , I just tighten up to a "feel" "Not too tight"

I have used both the silicone and cork. Actually like the cork as far as it seating. I cut my own. I found out the expensive way that it is very easy to to over tighten the silicone ones and have the cover cut through the silicone. Silicone gaskets require less torque evidently. A learning process that never stops as I have been riding since 1968. I find that my 2021 Gear Up is much like my old Guzzi in maintenance requirements. Basic simple stuff that really makes the difference in how long they last. And I can relate to leaning over in-between the tub and bike to check the valves. I use a thick foam pad to lean against. 😏 Cheers!

Thanks , yeah I should have studied more on how to install the silicone gaskets, but I’ll stick to cork now.

On gaskets. Neither of my sili gaskets leaked. But, one was compressed and installing that one did cause a leak. So now have one sili and one cork. Always carrying a spare. Lol

Thanks for the tips about the cable boot. Order yourself a set of silicone cover gaskets. They last forever and I've never had a leak once I changed to them. Just have to wash in soap and water between uses.

I did try them , and one side leaked , you have to be careful not to get oil on them as you put them on. I stuffed it up and one side started leaking. So I went back to cork.

@@CreakyRider Don't get the sili gaskets anywhere near the torque suggested for cork. Just watch and as they start to extrude, then stop.

Hello , could you go thru step by step , adjustment of the valves, how to get TDC on both sides, as this would help me service my Ural gear up 2024

I can point you to my friend Ural Junkie who did a video explaining it to me . Have a look at his channel , sadly he hasn’t posted for a while. Here is the full he on finding TDC kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnW5haiea9WBrqMsi=pDRxtQNyMaUY6-mw

Good afternoon. I want to ask you a few questions regarding motor oil. 1. Do you experience oil consumption during operation? 2. If yes, then how many liters per 1000 km? 3. At what intervals do you change engine oil? The manual says 5000 km. 4. Why do you use mineral motor oil instead of synthetic?

1. Do you experience oil consumption during operation? No , it's not using any oil yet , I'm at about 17000km 2. If yes, then how many liters per 1000 km? Zero 3. At what intervals do you change engine oil? The manual says 5000 km. Yeah Ive been doing it by the manual , next service at 20k I might have done a few shorter intervals early on to make sure all was good. 4. Why do you use mineral motor oil instead of synthetic? It's old technology so I just use the old mineral oil. The Bike is reliable if you look after it.
