Can you do a video on how to and how far to press in the bearings into the swing arm? Also, in the video show with and without using a press. I’ve done it, but your video set up is better than the pictures I took.

Thank you Sam! I'm starting to see I got a small group of regular viewers. You and a few others take the time to leave a comment too! Honestly I appreciate it so much.

Thanks a lot Dave for doing these.👏👍 We may have to take the sidecar axel out to get our Universal joint off as we can’t get it on the bike... Do you know “IF” the 2015 Patrol is like the bike you worked on here.?? 🤷🏻♂️ we have watched videos where the iner bearing comes out with/on the axel when you drive it out 🤔 and Didn’t think that would go back in as easy as This process worked... what WE would Really like to see is a video of “Taking Out the Universal Joint. 😎👍🥳. BTW, hope you had a Merry Christmas 🎄

Did you put a tiny bit of preload on that side car wheel ?

Thanks David. Great video as usual. Just love the Remy specials. Was the part change over necessary or just cos you could. What were the essential differences in swing arm from part2 and drive shift from part 1. To motivate the change over. Best regards H

Hello Harry, this bike was used for mockup of some R&D parts after it's Remy debut so it had a custom brake bracket welded to the swingarm. The project never gained momentum and the whole rig sat in a warehouse for a time. I had it shipped back us so I could put it back to stock 2017 specs and sell it to someone that will love it. The driveshaft is the same but I had to remove it to pull the swingarm so I just thought I would film while I worked. The only part I swapped was the R&D sidecar swingarm with a stock unit to put the stock Brembo brake setup back on.

Love these videos, David! Where did you get the Oetiker clamps from? I getting ready to lube the splines on both driveshafts, and could only find CV boot clamps, which I assume will work OK. Also, is there a camber on the sidecar wheel, or should it be 0 degrees? Thanks!

Alan, I got the Oetiker clamps off the shelf, one advantage of having the entire US warehouse of URAL parts inventory downstairs from my office. You can order them from a dealer and they may even ship direct to your door. 48.5 mm is P/N: IMZ-8.1040-15008-20 (driveshaft fork side) & 41.0 mm is P/N:

Thanks David! I have ordered them!

To repeat a point, very few Ural owners will do this. A MUCH more useful and relevant video would be installation of the spare on the front wheel. Why hasn't this been done already? Videos showing replacement for the rear and sidecar wheels were excellent. Common tasks are what we need to see, not this esoterica.

As I have mentioned before, when it was suggested I start doing these videos to communicate with URAL customers many people where on lockdown. There was more time for me to cover the topics I wanted to cover based on the feedback I was getting. People weren't doing much and the motorcycle industry was relatively slow overall. Many customers liked the videos so URAL allows me keep making them but I have a whole other job I do for URAL. Time is an issue for me so I record what I'm doing for URAL as it is a task I need to get done for my job anyway. Spring/summer are the motorcycle industries busiest time of year, maybe come winter I can cover topics that I have put on the back burner when things slow a bit.

@@davidwaynegeorge2292 and @geckoboy49 : Ironically enough, **I** could really have used this video last winter, when I had to replace the U-joints in my 2008 Patrol. The part I was unsure about was the "use a bigger hammer" approach (in both the manual and in various online groups) in the removal of the sidecar axle from the bearing. From your (edited) video, I suspect even the newer bikes need an unusual amount of force to free things up! I really appreciate the pointers on wear items and how / where to grease upon reassembly. And you're right: You need to keep track of the parts, as many are not bits you see during regular maintenance. In short, keep on doing what you're doing Dave. Sounds like a good use of your time and as esoteric as some of the repairs might seem to others, someone out there will appreciate an expert's point of view!
