In this session I only had a little bit over 1h to spend on the water…and I really wanted to try my new (old) reel, the Calcutta Conquest 51DC.
With this in mind, I had planned visiting one of my favourite local urban stretches of a tiny creek which I hadn’t been to since late November…spoke with my good friend Baz, a couple of days ago and he was keen to join me. This creek is so small it isn’t really suitable for 2 people fishing it together so we decided he would go downstream from the launch which is a larger and deeper pool, and I’d head upstream which is a series of smaller and shallower pools.
He started getting the fish really fast, I still hadn’t casted a lure and he was already on! Good stuff Baz! Not long after he managed another nice fish too!
We parted ways and my journey upstream didn't start as easy as his but it tunred out to be a nice session at the end!
At the end of the session I tried skipping unweighted Imposter prawns with the reel and it does it beautifully on the Accuracy setting, exactly what I wanted it for!! So hopefully will be getting some jacks on it!! When the estuaries recover from all the fresh...
