Urban Canyon | Fishing the Capilano River in North Vancouver

Welcome back to the channel. In this episode, I'll be fishing the Capilano River in North Vancouver. I'm primarily looking to scope out the fishery for future trips but it would be awesome to hook into some coho.

Cable pool be doing that, it holds some big fish. But they are extremely picky. So it’s a hit or miss. Further down river at the mouth of the capilano where the river spills into the ocean. I find it much better. I got a 13 pound coho. Awesome video by the way 👍🏼

Definitely agree! I’ve had much better luck at the mouth of the Cap too. Hoping to get back out again shortly. Tight lines!

I lost my fly box at the cable pool and didn't figure out how to reach this area. It must have ended up there somewhere eventually or kept going. I was heart broken that day

I am new to fishing. And I am planning to go to capilano river to try coho fishing this weekend. I have some questions! Is this currently a good season to do coho fishing? What is the best time of the day? And any recommendations for spots in the river?

Thanks for watching! I haven’t had chance to fish the capilano yet this year, so I can’t say if it’s a good season or not unfortunately. I fished it at first light last year and had some success, so I’d try that. For spots, I’d start just below the hatchery at cable pool. Always check the river level before you go though, as capilano is dam controlled and the river can rise unexpectedly.

@@NewFisher no worries! there’s a car park attached the to hatchery but if you go at sunrise you’ll need to park just before the barrier and walk the rest of the way down.

Spin fisherman cause alot of garbage. Throw on a wet suit and pick up the trash lines and bobber. And catching fish from high banks looks goofy
