Hi guys my wife and I just found your KZbin channel we’re also locals from Karratha since 1992. Can I ask what made you sell your Zone caravan and buy the Urban? Reason for asking is cause we’re thinking of upgrading to another caravan. Would appreciate your response! Thank you for your videos!

We brought the zone on a whim on the way back from Broome We always wanted one but it had a lot of extras in it that we didn’t want it had two boxes either side of the bed that made it very hard for my wife to get in and out of the bed And at the time we just got new jobs and decided to stay in Karratha and work for longer so we sold the van to save money But nothing ever happens the way you think lol We only stayed for another 10 months cos we got the travel bug again So did some ringing around and managed to get a show van order Just meant we could pick the colours of a set van and it was to be used for the 4wd show in Perth then we could pick it up after that So that’s how we got the urban… Cheers Dave and Nik 🇦🇺👍🍻

The craziness of those huge silicon swirls on the roof is beyond belief. They will catch every bit of dust and crap that falls into the multitude of nooks and crannies, and then turn to mud that's incredibly hard to remove. Why didn't they smoothe it off ? Answer . . . laziness !

Even though it looks ugly swirling the silicone has been proven to give a better seal against water leaks, although you wouldn't want it looking like that on a highly visible part of the caravan.

@harleyboo6951 I can't understand why that would be the case. I've been doing construction joints with silicone and other compounds for 3 decades and I've never heard of this technique. Can you point me to a source on this, please ?

@steeevo0136 I know a few people who do it like this on caravan roofs etc where it's not visible and they swear by it for no water leaks, but on the other hand they might be just shit at siliconing like me. Someone with your skills probably doesn't struggle to get a good watertight seal.

We are getting the same van and cant wait, delivery is July I love your 24V set up and wish it was a option at Urban and 48V would be even more insane. Yeah I have fixed it myself I just shortened the arms so it still goes up and down just not as high … If I waited to get approval for them to fix it we would of been all the way around and back home. Cheers for the comment it great hearing from people.. Cheers Dave and Nik 🇦🇺👍🍻

Gday. We have one coming. Also “show van that was cancelled” story. You and me are probably not the only ones with that story. Hey question for you, you said 3200 to the top of the RHS running across your carport. What is the dimension to the underside please mate?

That is the clearance 3.3m mate so I was just going by the height we were told when we brought the house. I just went out and measured it now I have exactly 3.3m to the bottom of the cross member if I was building it from scratch I’d make it 3.5m to the bottom of the cross member . Yes it was done after we picked up the van Urban didn’t offer this sort of setup and I wanted to use this company for my system The power side of the warranty now falls with the aftermarket setup …

To be honest I just told them what I wanted to use and they came up with the system… But the reason we went 24v was that you only needed 2 batteries if we went 800amp in 12v we would need 4x200amp batteries … With 24v you can use smaller cable because the volts are higher and amps are low … So we save on weight we also save on cost cos less batteries to get the same results…. We just been in Albany over the last 5 days and our batteries didn’t fall below 95% it was very over cast but we still had full power by 8am we did run the aircon on 16dec for 1 hour 45min while the sun was out we left all the windows open so it would run seeing it was only 22dec and it was on 100% when I started and after that time it only dropped to 99.6% I dare say it would use more in warmer conditions tho … Hope that helps … Cheers Dave 🍻

No not really we sold our lotus once we got to Karratha with Covid and not being able to travel we decided to stop and work… We did but a zone about 12 months ago and sold that too . We would of brought another Lotus but they are so dear now and the wait time was huge …. So we went to the dealer where we have always gone and they were selling Urban now we liked it and they had a show van build date set and offered us that build spot So we only had to wait about 5 months for our van the only catch it had to go to the 4wd and adventure show and it was only that size and model van .

The zone has the cleanest lines looks great and finished really well It does feel like a quality build The model we had was an older one but still good just needed more of the updated features it still had agm batteries etc But still a very expensive van
