This is great guys. So happy to see that after all these years there are still some crazy teenagers running around Endicott, not afraid to explore.

I’m always amazed at the amount of debris still inside. It’s a shame that these buildings were allowed to just rot away. Both my grandma and grandpa worked for EJ , right after WWII. My grandmother told me that all day long she used to sew the front stitch down the front of Mens shoes. It was mind numbing work she said. But nobody complained and the workers benefits were terrific. Great video 👍🏻

Theres a lot of old abandoned buildings in this area, so spooky at night. My Grandparents and Great grandmother worked at EJ's, they came from Italy with only a few words of English. Its really too bad that all the factories left Binghamton and the surrounding area. This shoe factory suported many families to make a living here.

Fr I'm from binghamton and moved to endicott and it's crazy to think of how most of these towns were built on these facteries -Endicott. Jhonson- hense E,J jhonson city an endicott all binghamton was a stop the old kmart plaza in binghamton used to be loading docks back then,I know this is a lot but come on our ancestors came off of ellis island and said which way to E.J and in endicott there's old million dollar houses that were home to the one and only Jeorge F Jhonson

i live right around here, and i think instead of national pipe & plastic tearing down the building, they should rebuild it as accurately as possible and have it be a museum of the local businesses' histories. this general area has a lot of fascinating history that a lot of people don't know about

My father worked at EJ when I was a kid. Said there were tons of chemicals buried under the parking lot on the property. This was operational in to the late 80s/early 90s(can't remember exactly). My mom would meet my dad there after work and we would have wings at Stu's Place, a bar across the street, dunno if it's still there as I have not lived in the area for many years. There was also a pool in the park across the street I swam in many times as a kid.

@@FloridaWaterAdventures I don't know. I was told they would dig up the lot in the middle of the night, bury barrels of waste, and then repave it by morning. Thinking back, this is a possibility... I remember the lot there being a pavement patchwork. I was also told that the power transformers were known to be leaking cooling oil which at the time contained PCBs, a carcinogen. Given the history of the area I would not be at all surprised. I know the state pinned the plume on IBM but perhaps what is lesser known is that parts of the IBM Endicott site were originally EJ factories. I think that in the context of the times, companies dumping their waste "out back" was pretty much the status quo. I believe I was told the west Endicott plant produced shoe soles so it's probably a Superfund site.

@@flexx_cv9310 The soccer field and old kmart plaza are built over the old endicott dump. EJ used to dump tannery scraps and other stuff in there. I don't know about the school itself but wouldn't be surprised if it was also built on the landfill. In the 80s the kmart plaza had rotted out caverns underneath that had to have supports installed and the parking lot was a disaster area - wildly uneven with giant potholes everywhere. If JFS was subsiding, I wouldn't be at all surprised.

My mother (now nearly 94) lost her father to esophageal cancer from exposure to the harsh chemicals working at the Endicott Johnson tannery back in the 1920’s -1930’s. She told me the other day about walking with her friend to the factory to bring her friend’s father “lunch” on the night shift. She remembered the stench of the tannery and said that when they returned to the fresh air outside, it had a strange medicinal smell. Weird.
