Urban logistics: a revolution with the Deliver Assist solution from Renault Trucks & Jacky Perrenot

When ingenuity meets sustainability, drivers' daily lives change for the better! On 18 July, Renault Trucks handed over the keys to a major innovation in urban logistics to Jacky Perrenot. Find out how a 100% electric truck, combined with an automated loading and unloading system, is set to transform the daily lives of drivers and improve the productivity of transport companies.
18 July will go down as a major date in the annals of urban logistics. Teams from the French truck manufacturer handed over to Jacky Perrenot, a major player in the French transport sector, a solution that is unique in the world for the automated loading and unloading of goods.
Using rails and pulleys controlled by an integrated automatic system, the rolls are moved, put away and prepared for the next delivery without any manual intervention. This last stage is made possible by a geolocation system.
This ingenious system, comparable to a carousel installed on the ceiling of the refrigerated case, makes drivers' work much easier, reduces the risk of accidents and increases productivity. Last but not least, this major step forward for urban logistics helps to reduce traffic congestion, by reducing the amount of time a lorry has to park on the public highway.
Corentin Vidalie, Carrousel Project Manager at Jacky Perrenot, stresses the importance of this innovation for drivers: ‘We try to find every solution to make their daily lives easier, to make them more reliable, to avoid all the risks associated with accidents in our business. With this carousel system, there's no need to climb into the vehicle to stow cargo or unload goods, which considerably reduces the risk of accidents.
This innovation is based on a 26-tonne Renault Trucks E-Tech D Wide, a 100% electric vehicle. Designed to minimise the carbon footprint, this electric truck represents a significant step towards more sustainable transport and logistics. The adoption of electric vehicles for urban delivery reduces greenhouse gas emissions and noise pollution, thus contributing to a better quality of life in the city.
This project was made possible by close collaboration between Renault Trucks engineers, Actemium teams, Ereca on-board computing and the Frappa bodybuilder. Together, they have succeeded in creating an innovative and functional solution that meets the specific needs of Jacky Perrenot, a transport leader always on the lookout for new solutions to improve its services.
