What a fabulous sketchbook tour, Taria - I love how you also add little videos here and there from when you were actually sketching to see the context. Also very chuffed to see your sketches from our rainbow house and hear your lovely words - thank you! So glad we got a chance to catch up :)

Glad you had a great trip to Australia. What great sketchbook memories! The big things started with the Big Banana at Coffs Harbour, northern NSW. Other popular east coast ones are the Big Prawn in Ballina and the Big Pineapple near Nambour in Queensland. The Victorians pronounce Castlemaine differently - just a regional quirk in Aus.

Now this was really fun to watch. Beautiful sketches of your trip. I liked the way you put it all together. If you are stuck on how to finish off the sketchbook do what a lot of us do when confronted with this issue - select a few of your more memorable photos and convert them to sketches. Sounds like you made some great contacts/friends on this trip who showed you just how wonderful Australia really is. It is wonderful to meet and know people like this. Thanks for your show. I enjoyed it.

I love this, this is such a cool sketchbook to remember your time in Australia. I would love to learn how to draw splashy water, your painting (like the others in your book), came out stunning. I love that you paint everyday things and when you look at it all together, it tells a story. I will know look for a few minutes to draw something small when going away, as I don't get time to sit down for long with the family and a very busy and curious 3 year old (whom i love to bits). Oh, and i saw your painting of the 3 sisters blue mountains, we also have 3 sisters formation in the Northern Cape in South Africa.
@tarias_sketchy_adventures4 күн бұрын
Ooooh I shall have to go find the 3 sisters in Northern Cape! I know also there is 12 Apostles in both Australia and in Cape Town. Yes, its something I am embracing much more these days - smaller quicker sketches patched together...it works so much better for busy travel schedules! I shall definitely do a video on the water as soon as I can :)

I love your entire scapes. Your sketching/journaling and my goodness your watercoloring illustrations, have totally motivated me to begin my very own sketching/journaling, then watercoloring them later. I haven't quite gotten the hang of finishing my watercoloring sketches on the go yet. Thank you for candidly sharing your awesome artistic abilities here on You Tube. 🎨✏️🖊

Another inspirational video Taria - thank you! I’ll be in Portugal in Sept/Oct this year and will be attempting to capture some scenes in my own sketchbook. I would have loved to join your sketching class - unfortunately the dates don’t work for me😢 Look forward to seeing your sketchbook from that event.

I could never afford a koval sketchbook. And if I did, I'd never end up using it 😂. I'd be too afraid. But.. it IS beautiful. I just want to feel free in my sketchbooks. They're like journals. I write in them. Doodle. Track dreams and mandela effects. Sketch dreams. Im currently just using a 120 gsm leda sketchbook. I use everything in it. Watercolor, acryl gouache, gouache, colored pencil, ink. It's wonderful for ink and.colored pencil, but i dont mind the crinkle that comes with using water in it. I think i want to try the ohuhu moxed media b5 next. A5 just doesn't feel big enough anymore. Lovely art! It's always inspiring.
@tarias_sketchy_adventures8 күн бұрын
I agree Kathy - I was lucky that I was actually gifted this one. They are exceptional and I would use one for a special trip but yes the psychological warfare of using it was tough as I know its an expensive book!! Ha ha. I actually think this book is B5 (something I forgot to mention in the video) - its definitely bigger than A5 and I agree, going back to using A5 now at home, it doesn't feel big enough!

What a wonderful sketchbook. I went to Sydney last year and love looking at my photos. Guess I better sketch it into my book. Taria, what other printer would you have gotten instead of the Polaroid? You mentioned that you didn’t really want that one because of the plastic waste etc
@tarias_sketchy_adventures4 күн бұрын
HI Helen, Well I was going to get the Xiami (Im not sure if spelt that right) but then I saw some bad reviews so that put me off. My friend has the HP Sprocket which she really likes but we can't get here. And the Canon one (Ivy?) is apparently good but again can't get it here. And i was looking at the Fujifilm too. I get exhausted going down research rabbit holes so in the end I went for Polaroid. The image quality is absolutely incredible. The down-side it replacing the whole plastic section after 10 shots :( I suppose, as with anything in life, there are pros and cons to them all! Getting all philosophical and stuff here....ha ha

Great video and lovely sketchbook. Just wanted to comment: -If you travel a lot can’t you just keep on using the sketchbook until it’s finished? Idk… that’s seems logical to me,🤷🏻♂️ It looks really great… lol some kind of cartoon, so impressive

NanTien Temple, I know it! Did you go to Wollongong harbour and lighthouse and the Seacliff Bridge which is spectacular? Love Berrima but Bowral is okay too also the towns of Berry and Milton but they're further down the coast. No we call it Castlemaine as in castle, which Australians pronounce carsel or cahsel, not cassel (which would be Cockney pommy pronunciation), so you were told a porky 😂 Enjoyed your sketchbook tour and chat. Next time maybe buy all food from local businesses and avoid global conglomerates. Keeping the tourists dollar in the country really helps. Yep I've got no idea why the giant things eg the big banana in Coffs Harbour. I find it weird and it really has nothing to do with our culture here.

How do you like the Koval sketchbook? It is great to hear they will be at the symposium.. !
@tarias_sketchy_adventures8 күн бұрын
I don't know they will definitely be there, just expect them to be seeing as its Poland...but I guess we shall see! I loved using this one....they are exceptionally made but they are quite expensive too. I would definitely consider getting one for a special trip but probably not as a day to day sketchbook if that makes sense.
