Urbane Bronze Sherwin Williams | COLOR OF THE YEAR 2021

My entire study is Urbane Bronze. This room is wrapped in wainscoting. Cathedral ceiling as well. I have a large window that I can let the light in if I want. But I mostly like to go into this room because it is a cave. The rest of my house has plenty of light. The study is a great escape.

Last spring of 2019 we chose SW Urbane Bronze for our exterior shutters. It was the best match to the warm brown/green/taupe/soft blacks in our new shingles. Since 1997, our off-white trim has always been the warm SW Origami White (BM Swiss Coffee is a good match). Since we limewashed the brick in a warm ivory neutral shade (Romabio Riposo Beige) we were able to paint our double French doors in a deep muted plum. Otherwise, our original warm red bricks would not have worked with plum doors. I believe all of the exterior colors needed to be warm colors because we have copper roof vents, lightning rod covers and a chimney dome. Really, there’s very little information online about these three areas: • the importance of choosing exterior paints based on existing color-tones of brick/stone or vinyl siding • the critical choice in an exterior shutter/door/garage door color that complements the roofing color • the amount of help in determining whether existing exterior surfaces fall under warm or cold color-categories I hope you can address these going forward. I wouldn’t have known it if it wasn’t for my friend and interior designer who helped us throughout our build of the house.

I used Urbane Bronze for my husband's man cave. I painted his TV stand with Messenger Bag. Gorgeous combination. The trim color is white and I made one wall white, almost like a reverse accent wall. Came out great!

This was very helpful! Already bought the paint prior to watching, but planning to paint an accent wall that was two windows. Accents will be faux leather butterscotch chairs and fun colored pillows, mirrors and colorful artwork! The rest of the walls are going to be painted Reserved White by Sherwin Williams.

I almost used this color this summer for painting my west-facing honey oak cabinets in my master bathroom after I changed out my countertop to a white quartz countertop and krypton walls. I love the color, but for my "modern beach" theme, the darkness of urbane bronze feels more "pacific northwest" beach then "Florida Beach" where I live. In the long run, I ended up going in a complete different direction, and went teal-blue, painting my cabinets "Moscow Midnight" and repainting the walls "Blustery Sky."

Not at all! I think it'll look great! If you get a lot of light, I think it'll look rich and sophisticated which is great for a bachelor pad.

I plan to put this on my interior doors (trim is SW High Reflective White) in my new build. The builder is doing this a lot on doors and Black Fox as well. But I’m confused as to your description, when I watched another fellow on YT saying it’s a dark brown with a touch of black. He doesn’t mention green or gray.🤷‍♀️I abhor gray undertones as they become drab. My walls will be SW alabaster so I hope this will flow.

What color is closest to urbane bronze in Benjamin Moore? I’ve looked mr haven’t been able to find one. I fin urbane to be warmer and BM options to be cooler. I love it’s warmth.

Would like to see a colour code episode on Benjamin Moore Hale Navy. Love the colour, but since it’s bold like Urban Bronze I’m a little hesitant to use it wrong. Thinking about using it in a bathroom that has white cabinets and tile but still scared it will be too dark.

I really like White Dove and think it pairs well. You could also look at SW Westhighland White or if that's still too much warmth you could also look at SW Alabaster

Hey guys - I painted my kitchen cabinets Urban Bronze. I love the bottom cabinets, but the top ones pull out too much of the brown and not enough of the dark grey as I was hoping for. I think I’m going to repaint my top cabinets white to have a two tone kitchen. Which white would you recommend for the top cabinets? Thinking of Shoji White or Alabaster White. My walls are Repose Grey. Just trying to think of what will pull out the darker/charcoal tones of the Bronze on the bottom.

have a look at BM Deep Creek. We painted our house BM Seattle Mist and trim BM Deep creek. It is very similar (to my eye) to Urbane Bronze which I love here as well.

Love this color. Surprised, however, to see it as a color of the year as it looks gray and cool both of which Ive read are on way out. I dislike warm earth tones and hope rust and beige are not in our design future.

Going on my 35th year painting. I use SW mostly and exclusively on exteriors. Used to ppl all went with "Greige" or lighter colors. Now darker/richer colors are becoming popular. I personally like the darker colors and usually 2 coats will cover even if the existing color is light. As I comment I am painting an exterior Iron Ore and the Trim is Black Magic. I thought oh my God Herman Munster and gloomy but it's really pretty and very rich. Fading may be an issue in the years to come and I did advise that to the customer but their mind was made up. You're Welcome SW and you really should contact me and my Hardy Board invention that makes it look like wood
