LOVED the first one! The archway and porch trim are both still so solid looking. The whole house still looks solid besides that back room. I didn’t see any outlets but saw 1 or 2 light switches. No kitchen or bath either wow! Loved the layout too. Such a shame. Thank you! -John

Wonderful detailing inside and out. Such a shame that it has been left to die from neglect. It would take a LOT of money, very hard work and dedication to stay true to the soul of this house to bring it back.

Such a grand old farmhouse! Some plusses right off the bat; it's surrounded by no one, the awesome porch, the double foyer with the gorgeous archway and the beautiful woodworking! The rooms are quite large which is another plus. No bathroom was no doubt difficult. I can't imagine having to use the bathroom and trodding outside in the dead of winter to use the out house 😬. I'm sure they use chamber pots in some cases. I guess bathing would have been done using a big wooden tub, but where? I wonder if they had an outbuilding for that? It makes you really appreciate having a modern bathroom 😆. It's sad that it's been abandoned to nature. The second house is a quaint old place sadly rotting away. Again no bathroom which gives you a general idea as to how old it is. It's just so sad to see it decay like this. Another great adventure Kappy! I always enjoy your explorations! 🤠👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

WOW! That first house, with the wrap-around porch, is the type of home I've always dreamed of owning. What an absolute beauty! The basic bones are good, and it would take a ton of work, but this one could be brought back to life. Are both of these houses on the same property? The reason I ask is because at 16:05 the fireplace surround in the smaller house is identical to those in the larger house.

That first house would have been quite the showplace in its day. The porch and that arched doorway were my favorite details. Sad about the missing back of the house and the painted woodwork, though. Second house, from the outside reminded very much of the house I grew up in. The inside, not so much. Thanks, Kappy. You make my break from Saturday house cleaning so much better

The history behind these houses and the stories they could tell . I can't believe neither house had a bathroom, that must have been rough with bathing and outhouses but the house is still amazing. While I admit I enjoy watching the videos about these old houses, I am constantly thinking to myself "thank God I don't have to live in one anymore"! I have to laugh at all of the comments about "oh that house is so beautiful" and "I would love to live in a house like that" LOL. People today have no Idea how miserable it was to live in houses like that. When I was a kid I lived in old houses like this in rural Kentucky with no running water, an outhouse and coal stoves and fireplaces for heat. It was miserable having to constantly haul buckets of water from a well. The houses had no or very little insulation and in the summer they were blistering hot, even at night. Winters were the worst, having to constantly haul coal and firewood into the house and every morning the house would almost be the same temperature as outside. Getting out of bed in the morning to go to school was like torture. We spent countless hours huddled around a coal stove or fireplace trying to keep warm and oh the joy of going out to the outhouse on a freezing winter night or early winter morning. Everyone romanticizes these old houses but no one would last a week in one. There is a reason people moved out of them and let them fall down. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but that was the reality for me.

Loved both these places. Looking past the graffiti in the 1st place, it had some great features. I think my favorite room would have been the yellow bedroom. I liked the way they painted the fireplace mantelpiece. #2 house is similar to a place here in our town. It's more of a utilitarian place. Not real showy but I think the people who lived in it back in the day, working hard and raising their kids. Another great video Mr Kappy! Thanks for taking me along!
