After completing the process if you let the top compost dry out for about 7 days , all the earthworms go towards the bottom moist soil and the you can easily remove the dry compost leaving the bottom earthworm layer in the same container. Start the process again in the same container. It also speeds up composting process in the following times.

if this is done inside, make sure to wash the inside of the eggs shells or the stench will be terrible. Also, it would be ideal to grind them to powder for better absorption (a coffee grinder can used and then washed) and to prevent injuries when hand mixing: eggs shell becomes razor sharp when dry and no one wants to "feel" them under fingernails.

Excellent explanation. Just 2 things that has to be noted here is, one is you have added green Neem leaves whereas you need to add only dry Neem leaves. This is because green Neem leaves has anti fungal properties, it might affect the microbes and slow down the composting process. Secondly you have used wet Cow dung but dried cow dung (powder like) shall be mixed in water before adding as it contains more microbes than wet cow dung. One more bit of information, for speeding up the composting spray Sour butter milk mixed with water.

I do not know what you mean by "change." I "add" and that is all. I have a planter in my front garden and rather than having vegetable waste rotting in my kitchen bin, I simply throw it on top of the soil in the planter. Once in a while, I stir it into the soil, though I have no need to as the planter is not used to grow anything. Now and again a crop of potatoes will grow on the surface of the soil in the planter, but I keep a lid on the planter covering about 95% of the area.

@henrybyers55573 жыл бұрын
You just add material until you have a good sized pile, then start a new one. While you build the second pile, the first has a chance to full decompose and mature. Once you finish building the second pile, the first is probably done maturing. If you keep adding to only one pile, it will never fully break down.

I started my composting DIY after watching this video. I just had one query. Exactly when should I start turning the layers of the compost. Is it after two weeks?

@@urbangardeningofficial How often after the 15-18 days? Do I need to stir until the 70 days are due? Or is it only for 30 days?

Mari R for hot compost,create air pockets for yr compost but dont turn it very often coz you will lose the heat built up inside each time u turn it..for vermicompost aka worm compost,u can turn your compost often as it depends on the worms breaking it down and not solely the weather elements..experiment with yr compost pile,whats works for one person might not be the best for the next person as their location,weather,where they store their compost,if they introduce worms to their pile/if theres a way fr worms to get into yr pile all matters in how quick you can get your end product

This video is very informative! I have 2 questions: 1. My garden soil is clay. Can this be used or can potting mix or any other type of soil be used in place of garden soi and 2. Can other types of leaves 've used instead of neem leaves? I use store bought compost and it's pretty good but I wanted to make my own by adding the same ingredients to it that's used to make compost from scratch. I wondered if that was possible and thanks to this video, I now know that it is. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful information with us!!

I don’t think we grow neem trees in the UK, is there a substitute for that? Learning lots from your channel sir, thanks so much!

Skip neem leaves... U can also add neem oil (50 ml per 10 kg waste) if it is available in ur area... Otherwise just skip it as thr is no substitute for neem leaves.. Good luck 😊

HI,I understand that we need to wait for 60-75 days for compost. But what should we do with our daily kitchen waste until then?should we keep adding them to compost proportionately (egg shells,neem leaves, and other stuff to make compost) alternate days or what should we do?
@narshiruharuna851911 ай бұрын
You can save them by drying them and piling them up Untill it reaches a quantity, you can use to make another batch
