I love this glimpse into a little-known town in the great country of Italy. Like other beautiful places in that country this city has an overriding sense of good proportion. It is notably restrained as far as architectural ornament, so it has a tamped down feeling that is a little melancholic. Upon some research I think I know why that is. On 23 January 1944 Urbania was bombed by the Allies, resulting in the deaths of 250 civilians. It is not easy to recover from catastrophic events like that.
