ahhh kupari beach and the hotels... when i was a little girl we used to travel there from austria... and now we are trying to go there every 2 years... so we were there this year and 2 years ago.. i love it there...quite a drive from austria but worth it!

It is weird seeing these hotels. Normally buildings like this are neglected because of financial and social reasons. The hotel is old and somewhat cheaply built. It loses popularity and they stop doing expensive maintenance and the hotel starts to rot so people stop coming and then it gets abandoned. Often there is a ton of fungus and rotting wood inside. Seeing the damage from weapons and explosives is really different. The structure of the buildings all looks really good (from the video at least, and I'm not an engineer). If it wasn't for the war damage, they could probably still use the existing structures. It is just really weird to me to see the after effects of a war on a modern tourist resort. It's kinda unsettling. These are not hotels that got old and neglected, they got freaking torn up in a war.

You guys skipped some old military bases, especially in Bosnia. U've got places with underground hangars and old Yugoslavian jets that were made by Yugoslavia.

Exploring the Unbeaten Path "željava" airbase, watch out for landmines tho, the country by itself has a lot of stuff destroyed in war, u shoukd snoop around... a lot of culture uve missed out too... sarajevo, the capital has a special soul during summer also... you have the olympics bob sled track on the mountain trebevic from 1984, not too much to see tho.. jahorina mountain had a radar outpost with a few stories deep bunker.. bombed during nato attacks.. i suggest u to do some research

I don't think you can. I was there (4th time) and walked along the coastline in a hope to avoid security to get to the villas but you can't get round. In the end I walked to the security gate and asked if I could have 10 minutes to walk down to take a look. The guard said it was an active military building with no access for the public.

I was there yesterday and went in exploring and took some photographs. I can say that you two are very stupid just wandering in not noticing what's above your heads. I would go back only with safety helmet as most parts have heavy objects that are falling down from ceilings. Its very sad to see it abandoned but i personally dont think it should be developed into another luxury resort. It should be left as a reminder of some great and some bad times.
