Join me as I explore this really old school theater we found on the east coast. This was the first movie theater that I’ve explored. I hope you enjoy.

This looks like one of the Multiplex Cinemas (National Amusements) in Westchester county, NY. I used to service those theatres (projection and sound service). I also used to work for Entertainment Engineering, and built all of those automations and sound racks you see in the projection booth.

As a fan of retro decades, I'll pay anything to see this movie theatre reopened and restored to its former glory as it did back in the day.

I managed a movie theater for years. The lobby carpet is identical to one of the theaters I ran. This theater was refit for stadium seating. Those seats new costs around $600 each. The safe was used for cash and coin. As you can see the shelf inside the large safe is bent. That’s from the weight of all the coins it held. You asked for movie posters, you won’t find any they are a collectors item. I could tell you what everything was used for in that theater.

Being born in 1976, I recognize all of this. I saw a video of this movie theater being explored last night, but by a different explorer. This brought back good memories too. Thanks.

The panels on the walls are sound panels. They are there to dampen the sound so that it doesn't distort the audio with an echo.

The big panel in the projection booth that had all the buttons is the automation system. At the top they have settings for what actions will happen at each step. Foil is put on film at certain moments in order to trigger those steps so for example at the beginning it would dim the lights during the commercials and trailers. And the Second Step would dim all the lights for the movie itself. The third step would be usually bringing up the lights for credits and the final foil wheel would shut everything down and turn the lights the rest of the way. It also would trigger various audio cues throat. So for example the first well would shut off the intermission music and then turn on the movie sound. And at the end it would do the opposite on the 4th step

Interesting. Guess they kept the 35 mm projectors for nostalgic reasons, and had a digital projector that was removed during the decommissioning.

I work at a theater most expensive thing there is an $8 bucket of popcorn and tickets are $5 lol...and for the posters the theater can not sell or give away posters as the company does not want said poster to fall in the wrong place or hands (yes idk) so they theater probably sent them back to the production company or gave it to the workers when no one was looking

Multiplexes are designed about the same here in the uk, maybe not as big. It's common for the projection rooms to be a big open U-shape covering all the theatres, so less workers can look after all the projections easily

The CORRECT information is: The Greenberg Multiplex (10 screens) in Elmsford, New York. Opened December 17, 1999, closed May 30, 2019. It was a Showcase Cinema (chain). Hope the info helps.
