let me tell you the truth about that hotel , after the tunisian revolution in 2011 the tunisian economy has collapsed because tourists ran away so the owner of that hotel had no money to pay the workers and he got into a lot of debts with the country so he ran to switzerland away from the justice , families and friends of workers didn't like that and as we see their anger resulted that chaos and the ruin of that hotel , in 2012 people stole all useful things and goods from that hotel and left nothing even electricity cables .. even russian tourists stole some stuff from it , it was a sad event and a big mess . and for your information that hotel was planned to be bombed in december 2012 and in february 2013 police have found four dead bodies , two were in the basement and two were on the top flor .

Interesting, I could imagine most of it myself, but it's interesting to hear that it was looted by former employees and that they found bodies in there. Also I read your first comment ;) but well ok with that story I can understand it.

Der Metzgermeister I do not think tourism will ever recover in Tunisia. It’s too dangerous with deash/ Isis risk. 40 tourists murdered on their private hotel beach in nearby Sousse. Then those murdered in the museum. The country is too unstable and unsafe for families to have holidays. When people are on holiday they want to relax not be constantly looking over their shoulders and feeling unsafe. When Ben Ali was president there was stability, tourism was fine. When he left there was a power vacuum and much disorder. That allowed the emergence of these terror groups. People just don’t have holidays there like they used to.

This is really tough for me to watch as we visited this hotel every summer from when I was 9 up until I was 16. I have so many happy memories there and to see it like this now is so sad.

Went in this hotel a couple of days ago boy is it creepy!! Smashed up even more now than when this was filmed, I’m staying in the hotel next door I have a great view of the hotel from my balcony, every night we’ve seen what we thought was an orange reflection bouncing off the one of their windows, about half an hour ago we found out it wasn’t a reflection the light was coming from inside one of the rooms constantly going dimmer and brighter!!! Gods knows how as I saw where the electrics of the hotel had been ripped out!! Pretty freaky place tbh

Not just Covid, tourism in tunisia took a big hit due to terrorist attacks and hasn't really been able to properly get back on it's feet

I stayed here in 1998 with my then girlfriend and my family. Lovely hotel, lovely staff. They did a pizza in the poolside bar called the Pizza Skanes El Hana with 2 fried eggs in the middle. The evening meals sucked though. Nothing for kids though we were expecting a Spanish buffet-style fare. They had a DRAG ACT on while we were there. A drag act, men dressed as women, in Western clothes, with makeup etc... In a Muslim country! It freaked me out to be honest, being only 18. I thought it was going to be some kind of gay-fest. So we made a hasty retreat to the nightclub there. It had its own nightclub. Only very small, but was good fun, trying to hide our booze and ciggies from mum and dad who came in later on to cramp our style. A good holiday overall, a shame the hotel has gone like this. Its strange thinking I have walked those corridors, swam in that pool, even got ripped off by the token Arab wandering the beach selling cloth to put over your head.
