thanks I have this 🚗 and I've been itching for something new... but you're review has reminded me why I bought it in the first place! its truly a one of a kind car!

I have a 2010 Mazda 5 Grand Touring and ABSOLUTELY love it...!!! Well...expect for one thing. The acceleration of the 2.3 liter engine which struggles when trying to merge from an on ramp exit onto the highway. I've worked around this issue by setting it in it's "auto manual" mode. And let me tell you folks it makes a HUGE difference in power. Since it holds a gear longer to build up a merging or passing speed when your on the highway. However, around town i just leave it in it's regular mode setting which is just fine. But since most of the complaints i hear about this vehicle are related to it's under powered engine. I thought i'd share my "work around" of that problem area for those that share my frustration on this issue. It's a damn shame that Mazda discontinued this little gem of a minivan. Because in all honesty i really feel they had a good thing going for folks not wanting a larger SUV. I for one firmly believe that most of it's downfall was a lack of any "reasonable" horsepower. Moving from a 2.3 liter to a 2.5 liter engine and only increasing the horsepower from 153 to 157 was rather ridiculous on Mazda's part. Since know one would really see any "significant gains" from a 4hp increase on the newest models. If they had bumped it up to 170hp at the very least and added more torque THAT would have done the trick no doubt about it. The only other issue to me was exterior styling since i really disliked what they did to the front grille. By changing it to a huge plastic smiley face along with the change in rear tail lights to a "standard" horizontal configuration. I happen to LOVE my 2010 models vertical LED tail lights. There not only sleek looking but also make larger vehicles in back of me notice my braking more. So again Mazda shouldn't have changed that feature. And lastly not to be overly nit picky here i miss the side turn signals and painted body side moldings the older Mazda 5 models had up until the 2009 model year. Why they did away with those features on my 2010 model is beyond me. I guess they felt adding traction and stability control on my 2010 model was more important. Since the previous models before 2010 lacked those important safety features. Regardless of all that, i still love my "mini" minivan and with only 30k on my 2010. I expect it to provide me many more years of convenience and reliability.

@@ureviews I am glad I got a 2015 base model used before COVID in 2020 for $10k. I replaced the stock radio with a android unit for under $100 which added bluetooth and offline navigation features. I am all set with transportation for the next 10 years. It has a good reliability record and extremely practical.

You're right, I should go for a test ride. This is a unique vehicle. For commuting to work, carrying model airplanes, taking the dog out to the park, this may be all I need. Thanks for the informative video.

I bought one, '14 Touring model with Bluetooth. It's a nice car. Accurate when you say it doesn't do anything spectacular but does a lot really good. It is a "niche" car and with my model airplane cargo needs and taking the dog out to the park, the Mazda5 makes a lot of sense in my world.

We have owned this since 2012 and the original rear shocks need replacing at 70K miles, and the front struts were worn out by 100K. Found a set of Koni performance strut and shocks and the Mazda5 handles better with less body sway and hugs bumpy road curves without any steering wheel shakes. When we pull up at the hotel valet parking with a full load, the bellman is closing the sliding doors before realizing there are 2 more passengers. 170K miles and still going strong other than wear parts like tires, brakes, batteries, 10K miles synthetic oil changes, etc. Only major repair was the A/C compressor quit and the dealer wanted $1500 to replace it. A bit of You-Tube searching and found out it’s a $60 clutch kit that took about four hours and $100 in tools. There is literally nothing else currently on the market like this and I plan to keep my eyes open for a low mileage replacement in another three years when ours will turn 15.

I consider these repairs maintenance... easy to do yourself type repairs. Great car, really. The only reason I would not consider it at this point is the newer safety system. Will not buy a newer car without Automatic braking system, Adaptive Cruise and Blind spot alert.

I bought this second owner and love it. it's zippy compact and like the style of the 2007 which is what I have. I was looking at wagons before I bought this micro van. much better than any of the other wagons I was looking at to fit my bike which has a 29" rim. With my previous 1993 Ford Escort wagon I would have to remove my front wheel before putting in the wagon. now I don't and just have to drop my bike seat and wah la it's in with just a little manovering. Love this and call mine The Micro Machine. My wife calls it a Wagavan. wagon plus van.

Congrats, really too bad they stopped making this car. Wagavan 🤣😆😂

ureviews surprisingly enough you can still buy the Mazda 5 in Canada and I think Europe and Asia. Mazda like all the other auto makers think everyone wants an SUV, Truck, or Crossover and not a small nimble Wagavan here in the US. All I need is a small vehicle not some huge truck. I keep my Mazda 5 thank you auto makers.

Nice video. I'm thinking about buying a 2015 mazda 5. I move a lot, so I like how you are able to fold seats in the back to haul cargo, or have seats to haul many passengers

When I shot the video it was possible now you can at about 18k. It depends on the manufacturer promotions.

The only way to find out is to go to the dealer and test it. What I found is that different people hear different frequencies at what perceived to be louder so even noise is subjective.

Cc Cc Yes you do these are fun vehicles to drive and lots of space. Have a 2007 bought second hand and had my 6'1" 220lb brother in this his 2 kids and my wife and this still zipped around to the point that my brother said slower down just a little brother. I will say if you live in San Francisco and have a full squad of adults it maybe taxed going up the steep streets of Frisco. but anywhere else you should be fine. Drive first and if you like than that's great. If not no biggie we're all aloud to choose our car. Hope you got one and like it's zippy compact flash of a Wagavan (wagon+van). or as I call it the Micro Machine.

Any trim that has electric driver seat?
@Timmymao-RIP5 жыл бұрын
Not available with electric seat, just like the Mazda3 of its generation.
@ureviews5 жыл бұрын
Why do people like electric seats? The only thing that should be electric is the height and angle. It's much faster and easier to do the mechanical part with the angle of the seat and the back and forth. The only time it makes sense to completely electrify it is there are memory setting for multiple drivers.

Is it just me or is the 2.5 liter engine noisier than the 2.3 liter on the first generation. All 2012-2015 sound so noisy in the videos. Mine a 2007 purrs like a cat and sometimes you can't even tell if it's running that's how quiet it is.

Honda has no equivalent model unless you mean the Odyssey, and that huge gas guzzler eats transmissions every 60-100K miles.
